One Way to Fight a Sanctuary City - UPDATE

Cross posted from The Peoples Patriot

Like the President and Senators who support amnesty, New Haven, Connecticut Mayor Tom DeStefano, the anti-Lou Barletta, is taking enormous heat for his pro illegal alien initiative. In a post from last week, “One Way to Fight a Sanctuary City“, it was reported that New Haven is looking to issue municipal ID cards to illegal aliens.

Channel 8, WTNH reported city residents are responding in anger and in numbers.
“City Hall has been inundated with e-mails from people against the cards.”

The fierce opposition should come as no surprise. Poll after poll illustrates that over two thirds of the American people are against illegal immigration, want our laws enforced and oppose anything that aids it. An astonishing 84% of Americans feel the current amnesty bill (S.1348) won’t stop illegal immigration. As one would expect, there is overwhelming opposition to the ID cards in New Haven.

Pro illegal alien advocates don’t have rational arguments to support their anti American and anti-middle class positions. The polling data, which shines light on “the will of the people”, is clearly against granting amnesty, the current amnesty legislation, and any proposals to make illegal immigration easier or more enticing for aliens to break the law.

Faced with this reality, the pro illegal alien advocates resort to their last hope of a strategy. The use of name calling and denigration. Like Bush, Linda Chavez and Lindsey Graham before him, DeStefano resorts to implying those who oppose his ID Cards for illegal aliens initiative, are haters and scapegoaters.
“This is hate-based literature. It’s done to inspire fear and to make people feel better about themselves by having someone else to blame,” said Mayor DeStefano.”

I don’t know, is this hateful literature? What do you think?

New Haven Mayor Tom DeStefano smears anti illegal alien literature.

The CTCIC literature is available for download here.

Interestingly the ID card initiative is privately funded.
“The mayor says that private funding is behind the cards and threats will not stop him from distributing them.”

Is this another case of the undue influence of business over government? Last time I checked, it is the people who run government, not business or special interests. Far too many politicians have forgotten this basic premise of American government.

DeStefano does make a point though. Just what will stop renegade politicians who refuse the will of the people? The very people who elected them in the first place. Apparently, Connecticut politicians do not believe that national polling data, which shows great opposition to pro illegal alien advocacy, applies to their state. They couldn’t be more wrong and we voters cannot wait to take them to task on election day.

Another disturbing question to ponder is the “in state tuition for illegal aliens bill” that is going to the Governor Rell’s desk. It’s time to urge Governor Rell to veto the bill. You can contact her in the following ways.
