At least 119 dead in South Pacific tsunami

Ok, I'm going to tell you this part of the story, so you can get, "the rest of the story". Shall we begin;

From USA Today:

HONOLULU — The South Pacific earthquake hit at 6:48 a.m. Tuesday, followed 10 minutes later by the first of four killer waves that hit American Samoa, Samoa and Tonga.

They were not huge by Hawaii big-wave standards —, up to 20 feet according to Togiola Tulafono, the governor of American Samoa, who was in Honolulu Tuesday for a conference.

But in a low-lying, island nation of about 65,000 people, the kinetic energy of the earthquake-born waves was powerful enough to knock out a major bridge, destroy homes and major roads and send cars crashing into one another, Tulafono said.

Now link and read this;

From Newsmax:

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama has declared a major disaster for American Samoa, a day after an earthquake sent a massive tsunami toward Samoa and American Samoa, leaving at least 99 dead and dozens missing.

Obama said the Federal Emergency Management Agency is in contact with emergency responders, and the U.S. Coast Guard is helping deliver resources to areas in need of assistance.

The disaster declaration allows the United States to provide the support necessary for a "full, swift and aggressive response," the president said.

There are three angles to this story. First, what the hell are we doing in Samoa in the first place. I think I'll look that one up. How about you? Second, we are going to yet "again", bail out another so called "state" when there is a disaster. And what's ever worse is that American Samoa is a "territory". This is Unconstitutional. And third, where the Hellll is sweeper of the House, Nancy Peohosie. She's a millionairess, aren't they part of her district? Why hasn't she taken her private plane, (one that is paid for by tax payer dollars), and rushed down there to comfort her "peeps". Where are your Sweeper? Samoa needs their Momma.

Look States need to take care of themselves. And that goes for all the wild fires in my adopted state of Montana. I know, but that would not be for the "greater Good". Has anyone given any thought to the notion of self reliance as a tool to help humans grow in spirit and become strong in mind.
