Pelosi's trip to Middle East a crime

Nancy "Sweeper of the House" Pelosi and other members of congress have no business being involved in Foreign Affairs. This was no fact finding trip she tried to broker peace accords between Syria and Israel. One fact no one is talking about is that Syria offered to help us to withdraw honorably from Iraq; I saw this on a ticker on FNC. She comes out and states she sent the same message the Bush Administration sent? President Bush has no intention of pulling out of Iraq, that is HER agenda. Plus the Bush administrations current policy is to ISOLATE Syria. Just by her visit, and others, she violated that policy. therefore I say she is guilty of violating federal law. yup, it is called the Logan Act:

§ 953. Private correspondence with foreign governments.

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply himself, or his agent, to any foreign government, or the agents thereof, for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.

18 U.S.C. § 953 (2004).

I say she should be arrested and tried under the Logan Act and tossed in prison! This is another example of Congress trying to usurp the Executive Branch's authority. I swear they want to be our Parliment and relegate the President to a figure head like England did to the Monarchy.

Well, Congress may have thew power of the subpoena, but the President has the Justice Department and I would use it.

Pelosi was accompanied by Reps. David Hobson (R-OH), Keith Ellison (D-MN), Tom Lantos (D-CA), Henry Waxman (D-CA), Louise Slaughter (D-NY), Nick Rahall (D-WV) and if they were involved with these discussions they are guilty as well.
