Democrats Tell Gonzales To Resign

Sadly, in character...

From
the Boston Globe:

US Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales has so politicized the Justice Department that he should step down for the good of the nation, the Senate's third-ranking Democrat said yesterday.

Senator Charles E. Schumer of New York called for the resignation in light of recent disclosures about the FBI's improper use of administrative subpoenas to obtain private records and the controversy over the firing of eight US attorneys in December.

Schumer, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, charged that under Gonzales, the Justice Department has become even more politicized than it was under President Bush's first attorney general, John D. Ashcroft.

"This department has been so political that I think for the sake of the nation, Attorney General Gonzales should step down," Schumer said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

He said Gonzales, who previously served as White House counsel, "is no longer just the president's lawyer but has a higher obligation to the rule of law and the Constitution."

Appearing on CNN's "Late Edition," Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., Democrat of Delaware, another Judiciary Committee member, said that "Gonzales has lost the confidence of the vast majority of Americans."

This is ridiculous! Doesn't anyone remember when Bill Clinton fired 93 U.S. Attorneys so he could appoint U.S. Attorneys he wanted in their place?

Gonzalez fired 8 for goodness sake! I am sick and tired of the screaming from the democrat party. I was hoping they would stop this nonsense once they became the majority. But noooo, they are still behaving like petulant children.
