Could Sugar Power Cell Phones Of The Future?
Researchers are charged up about biobatteries, devices able to harness common biological processes to generate electricity. Most biobatteries are unable to generate large amounts of power, but researchers recently developed a prototype version that has the potential to be lighter and more powerful than the batteries typically found in today's portable electronic devices, including smartphones.

North Carolina High School board votes to keep controversial book
A North Carolina school board will keep in its high school curriculum a book that tackles abortion, torture, rape and prostitution.

Planned Parenthood produces video promoting bondage
Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE)--which received more than $2.75 million in government funding in 2012--has produced and posted online a video specifically aimed at teenagers that promotes bondage and sadomasochism (BDSM) and proposes "rules" to follow when engaging in these activities. 

U.S. Justice Dept. sues Philly school district over beard-length rule
The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the School District of Philadelphia, claiming a rule regulating the length of employees’ beards constitutes religious discrimination. 

US appeals court permits YouTube to display Muhammad video with changes
Now we will see if Cindy Lee Garcia’s five-second appearance is edited out and the film remains on YouTube otherwise unchallenged, or if something else is found to be the basis of new calls to take the video down altogether.

Fla. High Court: Immigrant can't get law license
Immigrants in the country illegally can't be given a license to practice law, a question that was raised when a man who moved here from Mexico when he was 9 years old sought a license in Florida, the state Supreme Court ruled Thursday.
