April Fools Day
The history of April Fools' Day,
sometimes called All Fools' Day, is not clear. There is no first
"April Fools' Day" that can be pinpointed on the calendar,
although it is known to date back at least to the sixteenth century.
Vietnam Veterans Day
Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, who’d
served in Vietnam as an Army noncommissioned officer, today issued a
statement commemorating Vietnam Veterans Day.
Catholic Universities offer support to
Boston college on condom giveaway stance
“One of the teachings of our faith is
that contraception is morally unacceptable,” Victor Nakas, a
spokesman for Catholic University, told the paper. “Since condoms
are a form of contraception, we do not permit their distribution on
campus.”
Google honors Cesar Chavez on Easter
On Easter Sunday, Google is honoring
the birthday of the late labor organizer Cesar Chavez by placing a
Chavez portrait within the middle “o” of the Google logo that
appears on the homepage of the popular search
engine.
Freezing weather wipes out German flea
circus
An entire troupe of performing fleas
has fallen victim to the freezing temperatures currently gripping
Germany. Flea circus director Robert Birk says he was shocked to find
all of his 300 fleas dead inside their transport box Wednesday
morning.

A masked gunman was killed and the two
young men he was trying to rob were wounded in a shootout during a
home invasion. The shooting occurred "inside and outside"
