Disabled Vet Charged With First-Degree Murder for Shooting Masked Holdup Man--Six Times--at Drugstore

Now, I know my readers are very intelligent and have minds of their own. So, I will report and you decide. This report, although posted by CNS News, was reported by the AP. So let's all be Uncooperative Readers and read between the lines on this one, shall we?

From CNS News:

Oklahoma City - Confronted by two holdup men, pharmacist Jerome Ersland pulled a gun, shot one of them in the head and chased the other away.
Then, in a scene recorded by the drugstore's security camera, he went behind the counter, got another gun, and pumped five more bullets into the wounded teenager as he lay on the floor.

Now Ersland has been charged with first-degree murder in a case that has stirred a furious debate over vigilante justice and self-defense and turned the pharmacist into something of a folk hero.

Know that this is an ongoing saga and I will be following it as it evolves.

Truckers say new regs won't jam borders

From USA Today:

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Americans returning from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and parts of the Caribbean will need more than a driver's license to get back into the USA beginning Monday — and efforts are underway to prevent that from turning into a truck backlog at the borders.

Commercial truckers in this border state, home of one of the nation's busiest border crossings, are among those who will be affected by the more stringent documentation requirements, the latest in a series of anti-terrorism efforts put in place after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. Their imposition fulfills one of the key recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, a blue-ribbon panel of experts convened after the attacks.

Jam that border, turn the illegals back, where's the fence? No one in this Great land that we call The United States of America has been asked to sacrifice anything for the cause of freedom. Exception: our armed servicemen and women and their families.
My President Bush; which I voted for two times, told the citizens after 911 to "go out and spend money", so the economy would not collapse. How is that working out for us? HuH???
Suck it up people. When Brian and I went to Alaska, we were totally prepared to wait. As a matter of fact, we were told to pull over to be inspected because we admitted to having firearms in our LandRover. They looked under our seats, glanced at our passports and sent us on our merry way. WE COULD HAVE HAD BOMBS IN OUR EQUIPMENT WHICH WAS PILED ON TOP OF OUR LOCK BOXES BEHIND OUR SEATS!!! OR EVEN IN OUR LOCK BOXES!!
But no one would ever have know, because they didn't LOOOOOK.
We will be hit again. Where are your Victory Gardens, where is your stock pile of food? Buy some ammo instead of that big screen TV. Sacrifice something for freedom without being asked, I know you can do it, your an American.

Obamas' Date Night in New York City Draws Criticism

Ok, let's get our heads wrapped around this one and break it down.

From Fox News:

His public schedule listed no official events, so President Obama had plenty of time to devote to being a weekend dad and spouse.

The president and first lady Michelle Obama watched daughter Malia's soccer game for an hour Saturday morning in the Palisades neighborhood, a short drive from the White House.

For the evening, the first couple jetted to New York City for date night. A Broadway show and probably dinner were on tap.

The White House refused to say how much the trip was costing taxpayers.

I can just hear everyone screaming, libs and moderates alike. What is wrong with you? Doesn't he and his family deserve a break and to have some fun. Yes, yes they do. But not at the expense of the public. When past president's wanted a break, they either went back home, yes they all have homes. The White House is only temporary. Or they went to Camp David. Do you all remember what Camp David is? Do ya'all remember what Camp David was created for. Not what it's used for now, but it's original intent.

From Wikipedia:

Naval Support Facility Thurmont, popularly known as Camp David, is a mountain based military camp in Frederick County, Maryland used as a country retreat and for high alert protection of the President of the United States and his guests.

First known as Hi-Catoctin, Camp David was originally built as a camp for federal government agents and their families, by the WPA, starting in 1935, opening in 1938.[1] In 1942 it was converted to a presidential retreat by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and renamed U.S.S. Shangri-La. Camp David received its present name from Dwight Eisenhower, in honor of his grandson, Dwight David Eisenhower II

It is a retreat people! For the President. Alright, three deep breaths.
No other sitting President has ever gone to these lengths to "have a good time". Between all the parties he and his wife have thrown, the time Not spent at the White House, and now this, I can proudly say, I did Not Vote for the superficial, narcicist that is my President.

If my readers can find an example of a 20th century President behaving this way, please comment. This is an example of "city mouse" meets "country mouse", unfortunately we elected a spoiled brat "city mouse" into the highest office in the land. Oh and by the by the last "city mouse" President we elected built Camp David. AAAAAAGHHHHH!!!

New Pentagon policy adds poignancy to Memorial Day

To all of our brave men and women in uniform, past and present, and to all of their family members, I say thank you for your service.

From The Christian Science Monitor:

It is 1 a.m. and nearly dark on the flight line but for the spray of pinkish light that shines at the open door of a cargo plane.

The flag-covered box inside looks like every other one that has come through here. But the family standing in the plane's shadows soon recognizes it as their box. It carries the remains of 1st Lt. Roslyn 'Roz' Schulte, the spirited young Air Force officer who showed such promise, killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan Wednesday. As the box is taken to a waiting truck, the family quietly mourns, grateful at least to be here.

Until recently, the Schultes could never have come. Nor could they have invited the media to share their daughter's sacrifice with a grateful nation. Six weeks ago, Defense Secretary Robert Gates overturned a Gulf War-era policy that forbade families and the media from witnessing the return of America's war dead. The elder President Bush instituted the ban in the belief that pictures of casualties would turn public opinion against the war effort.

Clay Aiken Apologizes For Blasting 'Idol' Runner-up Adam Lambert

I just had an extensive discussion with the Uncooperative Radio Show host; MY Husband Brian; about the whole "American Idol" "crap". He thinks "that the average Joe" should not have a say in who wins. He thinks those that want to "sign" serious talent should be the judge. And then sign up the winner.
aughhhghghghgh!!!!! Oh wait, too logical. And Now there is this:

From Fox News:

NEW YORK — Clay Aiken says blood didn't truly pour forth from his ears when he heard runner-up Adam Lambert sing "Ring of Fire" — and hey, he's sorry for his "colorful choice of words."

The former Idol contestant writes in a blog on his Web site dated Friday that "I obviously meant it as a colorful statement to imply that I did not enjoy what I heard." He also says he didn't mean it as "a 'slam' on Adam as a person.

My best friend and my daughter are performers in their own rights, one sings and the other dances. They both watch this "what I, Susan Frances Bonner, call "crap TV", and they are starting to hate this show. Ok, whaat the helllll. Yeaeeeeee. Wake up people, we had "The Gong Show" when we were growing up. MUCH BETTER.

Beer tax on tap for health care?

My elected cockroach from Montana is jumping right in with both feet, legs and ass. Yippee!!

From The Bellingham Herald:

Lawmakers are looking at an extensive list of spending cuts and tax increases, including a new levy on the value of job-based health insurance. The latter proposal seems to be gaining ground. It could lead to higher income taxes for some people with particularly generous job-based health care.

Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., said no decisions were made, but he will use the feedback to shape legislation he intends to introduce in the next few weeks. The committee has a critical role to play in the health care overhaul, since it writes tax law and oversees the government's giant medical insurance programs. Baucus wants to write a bipartisan bill, a goal for President Barack Obama.

I just blogged on all the "sin" taxes we already pay. If you read on you will see that there is no end to what they are proposing to tax. Nooooo, endddd.....

Is the American Idol Finale Red State vs. Blue State?

It is true what the Uncooperative Radio show host and my husband has always said; "there is politics in every aspect of our lives." Now, this is a good example of how everything can be "made" to be political. I'll let you read and you decide.

From NewsBusters:

The Drudge Report picked up on the New York Daily News pitching tonight's American Idol finale on Fox as a red state vs. blue state battle between Kris Allen of Arkansas and Adam Lambert of California. (As for just how blue Lambert can go, see the Best Week Ever page connected to VH-1, where Lambert's entire face is blue, and his antics are "blue" as well.)

Media outlets like Entertainment Weekly have hinted at Lambert's "flamboyant" appearance -- and rooted for him because of it -- but will Fox be able to handle Lambert in full shock-jock mode? On a show that's been seen as family-friendly?

We will find out tonight if blue or red won. We know who won this last election don't we?

Girl Scouts exposed: Lessons in lesbianism

Folks, you have got to read "the rest of this story", it's a doosey.

From WND:

When many parents think of Girl Scouts, they imagine young girls in uniform selling Thin Mints and Tagalong cookies – not learning about stone labyrinths, world peace, global warming, yoga, avatars, smudging incense, Zen gardens and feminist, communist and lesbian role models.

But that's exactly what many of 2.7 million Girl Scouts will learn about with a new curriculum called "Journeys" released last year.

Patti Garibay spent nearly two decades in Girl Scouts – six years as a girl member and 13 years as a volunteer. She was also a recruiter, camp coordinator and area delegate winning outstanding leader and volunteer in both councils in which she served. In Garibay's words, she "bled green."

But in 1993 when Girl Scouts USA decided to make God optional in its program at the national convention in Minneapolis, an idea known as "Proposal 3: Flexibility in Spiritual Wording," Garibay chose to leave the organization.

Above is just the tip of this political iceberg.

Flight 1549 passengers get baggage back

What an effort this turned out to be. No one thinks about what happens to everyone's stuff during a disaster. Heck, I had most of my "stored stuff" in a carport on my property and it collapsed under the recent heavy snow fall we had up in the Mountains of Montana. All my stuff is still under it, half of it crushed. I was sick to my stomach when I got home and saw what happened. And that is just extra "stuff" not "stuff" I use everyday.

From USA Today :

It wasn't until after US Airways Flight 1549 had landed in the Hudson River, and passenger Karin Hill was stepping through an emergency exit onto the wing, that it hit her.

"I thought, 'My coat! My purse!' " she recalls. They were both back at seat 18E, where she was sitting Jan. 15 when the jetliner hit birds, destroying its engines and forcing it to ditch in the Hudson.

Then logic returned. "I can't get them," she thought. "I'm not going back there."

The 150 passengers left their belongings behind for the Hudson to claim as they scrambled onto life rafts and rescue boats and the jet sank beneath 50 feet of dirty water.

I need to get these guys to help me recover my "stuff" :)

In a large, complex effort, US Airways (LCC) has with the help of a Texas-based company spent four months recovering, sorting, cleaning and restoring 36,000 passenger belongings pulled from the plane.

We are being Taxed to Death

I posted the following article to educate everyone on how many taxes we pay on a daily basis. We are taxed on everything we purchase. Be it property, tax, local and state taxes, gas, heating, beer, ect... My state does not have sales tax. But they do have state and city tax.

Now read below and see how the Federal Government has done before and will continue to tax us. Then think about the "Tea Parties" that happened and hopefully will continue to happen around this country.

Do they seem so stupid??? And if you guys out there have a list of "creative" taxes that your local government has tried to lay on it's citizen's, comment and let me know.

The Soda-Pop Taxers Are Back

From National Review:

With each passing day, the tax policies of the Obama administration and congressional Democrats look more like Herbert Hoover’s Revenue Act of 1932, one of the most infamous pieces of legislation in U.S. history. The announcement from Senate Democratic leaders this week that they are considering an excise tax on soft drinks — a piece of the 1932 act that almost no one expected to see — is one of many ominous similarities.

Excise taxes like this were everywhere in 1932; they brought in more than half the Revenue Act’s money. This was in part the result of a compromise between congressional supporters of a national sales tax and an administration that preferred an expanded income tax. But the thinking at the time was that the only way to generate a big revenue increase in the face of severe economic weakness was to collect small sums across millions of transactions made by Americans of all income levels. Hoover also needed this revenue increase to make good on his promises to launch new economic programs and modernize government. The conditions are much the same today, between the poor state of the economy and President Obama’s desire for “stimulus” (in 1932 they called it “relief spending”) and a $1.2 trillion health-care overhaul. So in some ways it’s not surprising that our policymakers have arrived at similar solutions. Yet since all Americans pay the same amount per given transaction, excise taxes become more punishing for the poor — especially when the poor consume more than the average amount of a taxed good, as is the case with soda.

The potential damage to those who choose to drink soda is staggering. The Democrats have yet to announce precise numbers, but late last year the Congressional Budget Office estimated that a three-cent tax on each 12-ounce serving of soda could raise $24 billion over four years. (Hoover’s soda tax brought in a mere $7 million.)

Rove Faces Questions From Prosecutor Over U.S Attorney Firings

Brian and I have blogged about this issue, talked about this issue on our Uncooperative Radio Show and talked about this issue on other Radio Shows; LAST YEAR BEFORE THE ELECTIONS. WHAT THE HELL!!!! The Emoms, oh sorry I meant the Lame Dems, oh wait, I mean the Hezbcrats, No wait the Congress, have way too much time on their hands.

From Fox News:

Former White House aide Karl Rove faced questions Friday from a special prosecutor weighing whether to bring criminal charges against Bush administration officials for the politically charged firing of U.S. attorneys.

Rove met with prosecutor Nora Dannehy at the office of his lawyer, Robert Luskin. Rove did not speak to reporters as he entered the downtown Washington law office and neither did investigators who arrived about a half hour later.

Rove has said he will cooperate with the investigation, which is being conducted to determine whether Bush administration officials or congressional Republicans should face criminal charges in the dismissal of nine U.S. attorneys in 2006.

Rove and other Republican officials refused to be interviewed in an earlier Justice Department inquiry, which concluded that despite Bush administration denials, political considerations played a part in the firings of as many as four prosecutors.

U.S. attorneys are political appointees who serve at the pleasure of the president, but cannot be fired for improper reasons. Bush administration officials at first claimed the attorneys were let go because of poor performance.

I love it. This was tried and finished before I left office. I leave office and they want to try it again. It's no wonder we have only a'holes that want to be in politics. People wake up, and STOP THE MADNESS, please.

Speaker Pelosi: CIA 'Mislead Us All the Time'

Sweeper of the House, Mistress of all that is "spin" STEP DOWN. What "the hell" were you people thinking in electing herrrrrr. Oh and bye, the bye, I will be researching how she got to where she is now, so stay tuned. But meanwhile, this is what she is doing now.

From USA Today :

WASHINGTON (AP) — Under strong attack from Republicans, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused the CIA and Bush administration of misleading her about waterboarding detainees in the war on terror and sharply rebutted claims she was complicit in the method's use.

"To the contrary ... we were told explicitly that waterboarding was not being used," she told reporters, referring to a formal CIA briefing she received in the fall of 2002.

Pelosi said she subsequently learned that other lawmakers were told several months later by the CIA about the use of waterboarding.

"I wasn't briefed, I was informed that somebody else had been briefed about it," she said.

The House's top Democrat made her comments at a news conference where she was peppered with questions about her knowledge of a technique she and others have called torture. Republicans have insisted in recent weeks that Pelosi and other Democrats knew waterboarding was in use but made no attempt to protest.
I know "nothing" "nothing", Colonel Klink "I know Noooothing"

I'm only commenting on a portion of this post because as I said before; I'm going to dig deeper. Be afraid all, be very afraid. 911 happened.

CIA Denies Memo Request, Cheney Vows to Appeal

OK EVERYONE. Are you ready to Rummmbllle. This issue is important on two fronts. One, the Dems are in power and hate the military,(when we use them, they don't mind paying for them to do nothing, after all the military is a commies wet dream, and yes I love our guys and gals in uniform, but if they are not "working" we are paying them to be on the dole. (I know Uncooperative :)) And frankly our Military Want To Work.) So anything to undermine the mission, past and present is just tooo fine. Second, they can effectively make a case for stopping all interrogations for ever more. This will also open a door for investigation of all President Bush's cabinet.

From News Max:

WASHINGTON - The CIA on Thursday rejected a request by former Vice President Dick Cheney that it make public documents that he said showed the effectiveness of using harsh interrogation methods on terrorism suspects.

Cheney had asked the agency to declassify two memos that he believes back up his contention that useful intelligence was gained through such methods. The Bush administration authorized the use of waterboarding, sleep and food deprivation and forced nudity as it sought information after the Sept. 11 attacks.

The CIA said the two memos Cheney asked to be made public were relevant to pending litigation.

"For that reason -- and that reason only -- CIA did not accept Mr. Cheney's request for a Mandatory Declassification Review," Paul Gimigliano, CIA spokesman, said.

A spokeswoman for Cheney, who has become the most public defender of much of key aspects of George W. Bush's presidency that ended in January, said he was preparing an appeal.

He has been involved in an increasingly contentious battle with the Obama administration over the interrogation program, whose disclosure prompted international anger and undermined the United States' reputation around the world.

In one of his first acts as president, President Barack Obama ordered more humane treatment for terrorism suspects.

Obama called waterboarding, a form of simulated drowning, a form of torture and has not ruled out prosecution of those Bush administration officials who authorized it.

Cheney criticized Obama's decision last month to release legal opinions prepared during the Bush administration which justified the use of the techniques, employed against some caught in Bush's declared war against terrorism after the Sept 11 attacks

Obama Interior Secretary Decides Not to Use Polar Bear to Force Global Warming Policies

Good for you Ken, where's your Barbie. Idiots. The reason they are not using the Polar Bear is because; THE POLAR BEAR IS THRIVING.

From CNSNews :

The Obama administration on Friday let stand a Bush-era regulation that limits protection of the polar bear from global warming, saying that a law protecting endangered species shouldn't be used to take on the broader issue of climate change.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said that he will not rescind the Bush rule, although Congress gave him authority to do so. The bear was declared threatened under the Endangered Species Act a little over a year ago, because global warming is harming its habitat.

Salazar said rescinding the Bush rule "would provide no more protection for the polar bear and result in uncertainty and confusion about the management of the species."

White House Aide Resigns Over NYC Flyover

I don't know if you all have been following this story as it unravels. I have and its getting better and better. My President Obama and his crew, the gift that keeps on giving.

From NewsMax:

WASHINGTON – A top White House aide resigned Friday for his role in Air Force One's $328,835 photo-op flyover above New York City that sparked panic and flashbacks to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Louis Caldera said the controversy had made it impossible for him to effectively lead the White House Military Office.

"Moreover, it has become a distraction in the important work you are doing as president," Caldera said in his resignation letter to President Barack Obama.

The sight of the huge passenger jet and an F-16 fighter plane flying past the Statue of Liberty and the lower Manhattan financial district sent panicked office workers streaming into the streets on April 27. Obama said it would not happen again.

Caldera's office approved the photo-op, which cost $35,000 in fuel alone for the plane and two jet fighter escorts. The Air Force estimated the photo shoot cost taxpayers $328,835.

White House officials said the flight was designed to update the official photo of the plane, known as Air Force One when the president is aboard. The White House released a photo of the blue-and-white plane high above the Statue of Liberty, with New Jersey in the background.

The White House released the report late Friday afternoon via e-mail, with a short written statement from White House press secretary Robert Gibbs. There was no statement about the matter from Obama, who last month declared the embarrassment a "mistake" and vowed it would not be repeated.

What they are not telling you is that the position this man took over was one that was filled by Military people. This man was a Civilian. Does it make a difference? Apparently so. It cost us, the tax payers $328,835 for this stunt?!!! Yes, change we can pay for.

Hawaii Lawmakers Pass Bill to Create 'Islam Day'

We all live in a Yellow Submarine, a Yellow, Brown, Green, Christian, Muslim, Budda, oh hell, Alien from space, Submarine:

From the AP :

HONOLULU -- Hawaii's state Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday to celebrate "Islam Day" -- over the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn't want to honor a religion connected to Sept. 11, 2001.

The Senate's two Republicans argued that a minority of Islamic extremists have killed many innocents in terrorist attacks.

"I recall radical Islamists around the world cheering the horrors of 9/11. That is the day all civilized people of all religions should remember," said Republican Sen. Fred Hemmings to the applause of more than 100 people gathered in the Senate to oppose a separate issue -- same-sex civil unions.

The resolution to proclaim Sept. 24, 2009, as Islam Day passed the Senate on a 22-3 vote. It had previously passed the House and now goes to Republican Gov. Linda Lingle.

OK, let's break this down together. Political correctness run amuck. Dangerous. Giving nut bags more ammo. Rule of law out the window. he he ha ha.

Meet NASA's Real-Life Dr. McCoy

From Space.com:

He may not be zooming through space at warp speed on the Starship Enterprise, but astronaut Michael Barratt is the closest thing to a real-life Dr. McCoy aboard the International Space Station.

The doctor-turned-astronaut is spending more than half a year living 220 miles (354 km) above Earth as the space station's chief medical officer

I know this is coming out because of the new Star Trek movie, but I think it's a neat story. I like Space.com a lot and use it for our radio show. I just love how everything science fiction becomes reality in one shape or form. Besides, he sounds like a smart accomplished man.

Barratt should be ready. He literally helped write the textbook on spaceflight medicine - "Principles of Clinical Medicine for Space Flight" - and is the associate editor for space medicine for the journal Aviation, Space and Environmental Medicine.

A veteran of mountaineer and diver, Barratt spent nine years as a ground-based NASA medical officer and flight surgeon before deciding he wanted to experience the effects of spaceflight for himself. Space medicine, after all, includes the effects of high altitude and pressure on the human body, he added.

Russia investigates helicopter hunt for rare goats

Now if you just read the title your probably thinking that this has to do with eco-nuts. Well it does in a way but there is a glitch.

From Reuters:

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian prosecutors initiated a criminal investigation Tuesday into the use of helicopters to hunt endangered goats by senior officials, a case that has revealed the playtime pleasures of Russia's elite.

Seven people died in a helicopter crash in January, including Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's personal envoy to parliament and a top regional wildlife protection official.

Environmentalists have said photos from the crash site, in remote mountains near the border with Kazakhstan, appeared to show the hunting party had shot endangered Argali goats -- famed for their large curly horns.

There are only about 200 Argali left in Russia and it is illegal to shoot them.

Prosecutors had already started investigating how the helicopter could crash in good weather, but had not acted on calls from environmentalists and a petition signed by 6,000 people to investigate the shooting of the Argali.

The photos and accusations of illegal hunting by Russian officials helped catapult the story into newspapers and grabbed the attention of ordinary Russians.

Not only was this under reported, I found it under "Oddly Enough" news on Reuters web site. That is a category I use for our radio show when I do the "Bizarre Stories" segment. Why would a story about Russian officials and especially one of Medvedev's cronies dieing be here? I'm going to try to see if there is anything else out there about this. But I doubt it. Ah Russia, so transparent.

Indian Business Students Turn to Hitler for Inspiration

Whaaattt!

From Fox News:

"Mein Kampf," Adolf Hitler's autobiography, is flying off the shelves at Indian book stores as business students look to Germany's former dictator for inspiration, the Telegraph reported.

Indian students see the book as a self-improvement and management strategy guide, sources told the British newspaper.

"Students are increasingly coming in asking for it and we're happy to sell it to them," Sohin Lakhani, owner of Mumbai-based Embassy books, told the Telegraph.

If anyone out there has read this, comment and let us know if this is a good management tool or they are reading this for political reasons.

Supreme Court sends back ruling on Janet Jackson

Wow, I didn't even know this was still going on. Did you?

From USA Today:

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court ordered a lower court Monday to reconsider its decision tossing out a fine against CBS for Janet Jackson's exposed breast during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2004.

In a brief order, the justices sent the case of the "wardrobe malfunction" back to the appeals court in light of a related high-court decision last week. That decision, in a case involving expletives uttered by Cher and other celebrities, upheld the Federal Communications Commission's sanctioning of broadcast TV for even the one-time use of expletives related to sexual or excretory functions.

The justices took no position Monday on the merits of the FCC's effort to reinstate a $550,000 fine against CBS. Their action, however, gives the agency another chance in the Philadelphia-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit to justify its indecency order against the network

I guess the Supreme Court didn't want to "view", I mean "touch", no wait I mean consider taking on this issue huh? This is one time that the government has the right to regulate something. When it's "public airways", subsidized by the public. Why NPR is allowed to go on is beyond me. And many have tried to squash that puppy.

This is one of the many reasons Cable TV and now Satellite TV came into being. To make money and give the folks an alternative. Ah good old capitalism. It will be interesting to see how this will turn out.

Supermarket Magnate Wins Panama Presidential Election

I know no one cares about the Panama Canal anymore. But ya need to. So I will start with this article and then steer you to the history of the Canal, how we built it, and then gave it away. Yes, people, that's what we do as American's; WE Help People, Then We Go Away. Now read, research and learn. Yes, this is school now......:)

From Fox News:

PANAMA CITY — Conservative supermarket magnate Ricardo Martinelli won Panama's presidential elections in a landslide Sunday, taking office as the Central American nation carries out an ambitious project to expand the Panama Canal.

Martinelli, of the opposition Alliance for Change, had 61 percent of the votes against 37 percent for ruling party candidate Balbina Herrera, Panama's Electoral Tribunal reported with 63 percent of the votes counted.

Tribunal President Erasmo Pinilla called Martinelli, 57, the "indisputable winner" and said he had telephoned the candidate to inform him of his victory.

Martinelli, who owns Panama's largest supermarket chain, said he would work for a national unity government because "that is what the country is counting on."

"Tomorrow we will all be Panamamians and we will change this country so that it has a good health system, good education, good transportation and good security," he said.

Herrara, a 54-year-old former housing minister, still hadn't comment on the election results. Former President Guillermo Endara was a distant third in voting.

The winner, whose term ends in 2014, will have to guide Panama through the world economic crisis and the $5.25 billion expansion of the canal to increase its capacity and accommodate larger ships.

Now go here or do a search, there are many sites that not only tell you the history of the canal, but show you great pictures of it. It's really cool and we built it !!!

From Wikipedia:

The Panama Canal is a man-made canal which joins the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. One of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken, it had an enormous impact on shipping between the two oceans, replacing the long and treacherous route via the Drake Passage and Cape Horn at the southernmost tip of South America.

Thank you Jimmy "dimmy" Carter and Bill "I feel your pain" Clinton. Oh, research their roles in all this as well.

Despite His Own Flu Warning, Biden Takes Train Home

From Fox News:
Known for speaking freely, Biden told NBC's "Today" show on Thursday that he had urged family members to avoid airplanes and subways for fear of contracting the H1N1 flu virus.

I love the Lame Stream Media's spin on Joe "Poluka Biden", (yea, I know I didn't spell that correctly, so correct me :)) He speaks his mind freely. Nooo. He speaks what ever comes into his pretty blond head. Joe, keep your hands up, no more hits to the head. People what were you thinking in 2008!!!!

WASHINGTON -- One day after saying he wouldn't travel in tight quarters because of the swine flu scare, Vice President Joe Biden rode a train Friday from Washington to Delaware.

Known for speaking freely, Biden told NBC's "Today" show on Thursday that he had urged family members to avoid airplanes and subways for fear of contracting the H1N1 flu virus.

"I wouldn't go anywhere in confined places now," Biden said.

The comments infuriated the travel industry and triggered several revisions from the Obama administration, whose official advice is less severe.

For once the man spoke the "TRUTH". From my comments above ya'll know how I feel about the man. But He Did Good this time. I will give due when it's due. He is right. No, I'm not going to throw up or take a bath after saying that about a Left Wing Commie. When someone is correct they are correct, no matter how I feel about them. Again, conservatives think. But I know the Obmanitation administration will put him back in the basement after this one. Listen people, it's your life, it's your family, it's your loved one, if you feel it's not safe to travel any way you want. Don't. Your life is worth more than what the government tells you.

Gun Owners Worried Over Limbaugh Stance

Now I know the Left is going nu-nu bananas over this one. Good, read first and then listen.

From Newsmax:

Rush Limbaugh's new pet project — fighting animal cruelty for the Humane Society of the United States — is riling sportsmen from coast to coast, prompting fears that the talkster typically supportive of gun rights is aiding a group they say has a secret agenda to end all hunting in America.

Almost 30 groups representing millions of hunters and sportsmen are demanding that the conservative radio commentator end his collaboration with the Humane Society and stop "helping them to mainstream their image in the minds of reasonable people."

First off, this is not paranoia, guns owners of all types are constantly under attack by the commie left. So we/I as a gun toten momma have to always be on guard. Ha sometimes with my gun, ha he, he. Second, conservatives do not think with their hearts, but with their minds. And as such everything in in question, even other conservatives. It's about whats right, not how popular the issue is or the person behind the issue.

Mr. Limbaugh did not answer requests for comment and has had little to say about his tacit endorsement of the Humane Society. During an interview on Fox News last week, Greta Van Susteren asked him, "Who do you admire and why?"

As Mr. Limbaugh paused, citing "brain freeze," this exchange occurred:

"You like the Humane Society," Mrs. Van Susteren said.

"Who?" Mr. Limbaugh asked.

"The Humane Society."

Laughing, the radio host, who spends three hours a day talking politics, said, "Well, now, you're getting into politics," and quickly moved off the topic.

Oh come on now, the man eats, breeeaths and sleeeeps, "politics". How lame an answer was that. I listen to him all the time but missed this interview and his response to the issue on his radio show; which I'm sure he addressed. I just wanted to point out that just because conservatives don't always agree with other conservatives, it means "we are imploding". No, it means we are "thinking". I only hope Rush starts thinking about what this organization stands for. I mean he has "people" to research this doesn't he. He's rich enough to have "people" doesn't he?
