Search hastens for lost pages of most accurate Hebrew Bible

This seemed right for Christmas...

From The Washington Times:
A worldwide hunt is under way for missing segments of the oldest and most reliable copy of the Hebrew Bible, nearly half of which disappeared 60 years ago during anti-Jewish riots in Aleppo, Syria.

Although the effort has been under way for some time, it has accelerated in recent months.

The Ben-Zvi Institute here is spearheading the effort and hopes to enlist the help of Aleppo's now-dispersed Jewish population, some of whom live in the U.S.

"We are appealing to the older members of Aleppo's once-great Jewish community, who are scattered throughout the world, to look for the missing fragments and bring them to us," said Zvi Zameret, the institute's director.

Known as the Aleppo Codex, this religious and linguistic treasure dates back 1,000 years and is regarded by scholars as unsurpassed in accuracy and calligraphy.

"It is the most reliable version of the Old Testament," Israeli archaeologist Gabriel Barkay, who specializes in ancient Jewish history, told The Washington Times.

"Although the Dead Sea Scrolls predate it by nearly a millennium, they do not include all of the books that comprise the Jewish Bible's three sections — most of which are in Hebrew, and some of which are in Aramaic."

Those three sections are the Pentateuch (also known as The Five Books of Moses), the Prophets and the Scriptures.

"The Aleppo Codex contained all three until it fell victim to vandals and looters," he said.

The Aleppo Codex was transcribed about the year 950 in Tiberias, the Roman-era city on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee, where, as late as the 10th century, Hebrew was the spoken language, Mr. Barkay said.

It was transferred to Jerusalem a century later, but because the city was conquered and reconquered at the time, it fell prey first to the Seljuk Turks and then to the Crusaders.

"They stole it but refrained from any desecration," Mr. Barkay said.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas LightsA simple story of the birth of Jesus from Holidays.net:

Nativity SceneWhen Rome was a great Empire ruled by Caesar Augustus and Israel was governed by King Herod, in the village of Nazareth lived Joseph and Mary. Joseph was a carpenter and Mary was a young virgin who would become his wife. Mary told Joseph of a dream in which she was visited by an angel who told her she had been chosen to bear the Son of God and his name was to be Jesus.

One day the emperor sent notice that all persons were to register for a new tax. They were instructed to return to the towns of their birth. Joseph and Mary left Nazareth for Bethlehem. Mary who was with child, and close to the birth, rode on a donkey while Joseph walked beside her. They traveled for many days and only rested at night.

When they reached Bethlehem it was night. They looked for a place to rest but there were no empty rooms when they reached the inn. As they were being turned away Joseph mentioned his wife was with child and close to birth. The inn keeper took pity on them and told them of some caves in the nearby hills that shepherds would stay with their cows and sheep.

Decorated House With Two Christmas Trees
It is also a time for joy, eating, drinking, and exchanging gifts. However, let's remember it is not about exchanging gifts, it is about much more. Think about helping someone less fortunate than yourselves this season.

Let's try and remember that Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus by being more "Christ like." So remember that, when you are dealing with your family over the holidays; which sometimes tries our patience. ;)

Killing the Border Fence

Cross posted from Virtuous Republic

H.R. 2764, known as the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2008,
contains language, that in essence, means the border fence with Mexico
will not get built. Our elites aren’t interested in securing our borders
and every chance they get, they are going to undo the damage caused by
those pesky citizens who defeated amnesty and demanded enforcement of
our immigration laws. Michelle Malkin
has a good summary of what this bill does to the border fence. The
opponents of the border fence can claim they support it, but read the
language in the bill and tell me if you think a fence could be built
with all the attached requirements and conditions.

For expenses for customs and border protection fencing,
infrastructure, and technology, $1,225,000,000, to remain available
until expended: Provided, That of the amount provided under this
heading, $1,053,000,000 is designated as described in section 5 (in the
matter preceding division A of this consolidated Act): Provided
further, That provided under this heading, $650,000,000 shall not be
obligated until the Committees on Appropriations of the Senate and the
House of Representatives receive and approve a plan for expenditure,
prepared by the Secretary of Homeland Security and submitted within 90
days after the date of enactment of this Act, for a program to
establish a security barrier along the borders of the United States of
fencing and vehicle barriers, where practicable, and other forms of
tactical infrastructure and technology, that includes:

(1) a detailed accounting of the program’s progress to date relative
to system capabilities or services, system performance levels, mission
benefits and outcomes, milestones, cost targets, program management
capabilities, identification of the maximum investment (including
lifecycle costs) required by the Secure Border Initiative network or
any successor contract, and description of the methodology used to
obtain these cost figures;

(2) a description of how activities will further the objectives of
the Secure Border Initiative, as defined in the Secure Border
Initiative multi-year strategic plan, and how the plan allocates
funding to the highest priority border security needs;

(3) an explicit plan of action defining how all funds are to be
obligated to meet future program commitments, with the planned
expenditure of funds linked to the milestone-based delivery of specific
capabilities, services, performance levels, mission benefits and
outcomes, and program management capabilities;

(4) an identification of staffing (including full-time equivalents, contractors, and detailees) requirements by activity;

(5) a description of how the plan addresses security needs at the
Northern Border and the ports of entry, including infrastructure,
technology, design and operations requirements;

(6) a report on costs incurred, the activities completed, and the
progress made by the program in terms of obtaining operational control
of the entire border of the United States;

(7) a listing of all open Government Accountability Office and
Office of Inspector General recommendations related to the program and
the status of Department of Homeland Security actions to address the
recommendations, including milestones to fully address them;

(8) a certification by the Chief Procurement Officer of the
Department that the program has been reviewed and approved in
accordance with the investment management process of the Department,
and that the process fulfills all capital planning and investment
control requirements and reviews established by the Office of
Management and Budget, including Circular A-11, part 7;

(9) a certification by the Chief Information Officer of the
Department that the system architecture of the program is sufficiently
aligned with the information systems enterprise architecture of the
Department to minimize future rework, including a description of all
aspects of the architectures that were and were not assessed in making
the alignment determination, the date of the alignment determination,
and any known areas of misalignment along with the associated risks and
corrective actions to address any such areas;

(10) a certification by the Chief Procurement Officer of the
Department that the plans for the program comply with the Federal
acquisition rules, requirements, guidelines, and practices, and a
description of the actions being taken to address areas of
non-compliance, the risks associated with them along with any plans for
addressing these risks, and the status of their implementation;

(11) a certification by the Chief Information Officer of the
Department that the program has a risk management process that
regularly and proactively identifies, evaluates, mitigates, and
monitors risks throughout the system life cycle and communicates
high-risk conditions to U.S. Customs and Border Protection and
Department of Homeland Security investment decisionmakers, as well as a
listing of all the program’s high risks and the status of efforts to
address them;

(12) a certification by the Chief Human Capital Officer of the
Department that the human capital needs of the program are being
strategically and proactively managed, and that current human capital
capabilities are sufficient to execute the plans discussed in the
report;

(13) an analysis by the Secretary for each segment, defined as no
more than 15 miles, of fencing or tactical infrastructure, of the
selected approach compared to other, alternative means of achieving
operational control; such analysis should include cost, level of
operational control, possible unintended effects on communities, and
other factors critical to the decision-making process;

(14) a certification by the Chief Procurement Officer of the
Department of Homeland Security that procedures to prevent conflicts of
interest between the prime integrator and major subcontractors are
established and that the Secure Border Initiative Program Office has
adequate staff and resources to effectively manage the Secure Border
Initiative program, Secure Border Initiative network contract, and any
related contracts, including the exercise of technical oversight, and a
certification by the Chief Information Officer of the Department of
Homeland Security that an independent verification and validation agent
is currently under contract for the projects funded under this heading;
and

(15) is reviewed by the Government Accountability Office:

Provided further, That the Secretary shall report to the Committees on
Appropriations of the Senate and the House of Representatives on
program progress to date and specific objectives to be achieved through
the award of current and remaining task orders planned for the balance
of available appropriations: (1) at least 30 days prior to the award of
any task order requiring an obligation of funds in excess of
$100,000,000; and (2) prior to the award of a task order that would
cause cumulative obligations of funds to exceed 50 percent of the total
amount appropriated:Provided further, That of the funds provided under
this heading, not more than $2,000,000 shall be used to reimburse the
Defense Acquisition University for the costs of conducting a review of
the Secure Border Initiative network contract and determining how and
whether the Department is employing the best procurement practices:
Provided further, That none of the funds under this heading may be
obligated for any project or activity for which the Secretary has
exercised waiver authority pursuant to section 102(c) of the Illegal
Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C.
1103 note) until 15 days have elapsed from the date of the publication
of the decision in the Federal Register.

Of course our leaders didn’t kill the border fence in a obvious
manner, they have killed it by requiring the Secretary of Homeland
Security to meet impossible criteria. Then, a little later in the bill,
you find this, which among other things, requires the Secretary of
Homeland Defense to consult with homeowners, Indian tribes, and
environmentalists.

We’ve been lied to again.

SEC. 564. IMPROVEMENT OF BARRIERS AT BORDER. (a)
Section 102 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant
Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1103 note) is amended– (1) in
subsection (a), by striking `Attorney General, in consultation with the
Commissioner of Immigration and Naturalization,’ and inserting
`Secretary of Homeland Security’; and (2) in subsection (b)– (A) in the
subsection heading, by striking `in the Border Area’ and inserting
`Along the Border’; (B) in paragraph (1)– (i) in the heading, by
striking `SECURITY FEATURES’ and inserting `ADDITIONAL FENCING ALONG
SOUTHWEST BORDER’; and (ii) by striking subparagraphs (A) through (C)
and inserting the following:

`(A) REINFORCED FENCING- In carrying out subsection (a), the
Secretary of Homeland Security shall construct reinforced fencing along

gain operational control of the southwest border.

`(B) PRIORITY AREAS- In carrying out this section, the Secretary of
Homeland Security shall– `(i) identify the 370 miles, or other mileage
determined by the Secretary, whose authority to determine other mileage
shall expire on December 31, 2008, along the southwest border where
fencing would be most practical and effective in deterring smugglers
and aliens attempting to gain illegal entry into the United States; and
`(ii) not later than December 31, 2008, complete construction of
reinforced fencing along the miles identified under clause (i).

`(C) CONSULTATION- `(i) IN GENERAL- In carrying out this section,

impact on the environment, culture, commerce, and quality of life for
the communities and residents located near the sites at which such
fencing is to be constructed. `(ii) SAVINGS PROVISION- Nothing in this
subparagraph may be construed to– `(I) create or negate any right of
action for a State, local government, or other person or entity
affected by this subsection; or `(II) affect the eminent domain laws of
the United States or of any State.

`(D) LIMITATION ON REQUIREMENTS- Notwithstanding subparagraph (A),
nothing in this paragraph shall require the Secretary of Homeland
Security to install fencing, physical barriers, roads, lighting,
cameras, and sensors in a particular location along an international
border of the United States, if the Secretary determines that the use
or placement of such resources is not the most appropriate means to
achieve and maintain operational control over the international border
at such location.’; and (C) in paragraph (4), by striking `to carry out
this subsection not to exceed $12,000,000′ and inserting `such sums as
may be necessary to carry out this subsection’. (b) No funds
appropriated in this Act for U.S. Customs and Border Protection `Border
Security Fencing, Infrastructure, and Technology’ may be obligated
unless the Secretary of Homeland Security has complied with section
102(b)(2)(C)(i) of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant
Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1103 note) as amended by
subsection (a)(2).

Indoctrination via high school Spanish class in Ohio

Cross posted from Conservative Common Man

“Students struggle as immigrants do” is the headline from The Columbus Dispatch.

Seniors in Erica Vierya’s Spanish class at Olentangy Liberty High
School engage in a three week projectbefitting of Hitlery Clinton’s
proposed Public Service Academy. The students must assume immigrant
identities, fill out the legal paperwork, and then once the teacher
denies them legal status they must come up with a plan to enter and
survive illegally.

Ms. Vierya doesn’t intend “to sway the students, only to teach them
a little empathy.” In this class illegal immigrants are viewed in the
same light as a child adopted from a Russian orphanage, at least in one
child’s opinion. That child (the one adopted from a Russian orphanage)
was apparently not taught the differences between a legal adoption and illegally
entering a country, burdening the taxpayers, and assisting selfish
business owners in driving down the wages of American workers.

The fact that the the plague that is the illegal invasion of our
nation is being likened to to the wonderful act of adopting a baby from
a foreign orphanage is indicative of just how far education has veered
left. The legal adoption of a baby is a loving act by individuals.
Empathizing with the attack on our sovereignty isn’t exactly the same
thing.

Perhaps next year the rest of the school should get involved with the project:

  • Math classes can assign students the task of budgeting money paid
“under the table” and figuring out the difference between what they
would pay in medical bills and co-pays vs. what they save by not having
insurance and being treated at taxpayer expense.
  • English classes can be picketted during the three week project since it is racist to expect people to learn English.
  • Government classes can have students role play as disenfranchised
voters who were expected to be citizens and registered to vote before
actually being allowed to vote. This might require a presentation by a
representative of the ACLU or La Raza.
  • While they are at it, perhaps the Freshman Physical Education class
can take a field trip across state lines to a taxpayer funded abortion
mill and be shown the preferred method of taking victims of statutory
rape in for abortions without notifying parents or authorities.

Muslim Brides Undergoing Painful Vaginal Surgery to 'Re-virginize' for Wedding Nights

It seems like you can regain virginity...

From FNC:
On her wedding night, Aisha Salim will hand her blooded sheets to her in-laws as proof of her virginity, according to a story in The Daily Telegraph of Australia.

But there’s one problem. Being a modern English university graduate, she is far from the traditional untouched Muslim bride.

Like most woman her age, Salim has smoked, drank, had sex and even lived with one of her past boyfriends.

However, if the devout Muslim family of her soon-to-be husband – or even her own family – knew this, she could be murdered.

Aisha has opted to have her virginity surgically restored in a delicate but painful surgery called hymenoplasties -- where the hymen is re-created from the already torn tissue, or a new membrane is inserted.

"If my husband cannot prove to his family that I am a virgin, I would be hounded, ostracised and sent home in disgrace,” Salim told England’s Daily Mail.

“My father, who is a devout Muslim, would regard it as the ultimate shame. The entire family could be cast out from the friends and society they hold dear, and I honestly believe that one of my fanatically religious cousins or uncles might kill me in revenge, to purge them of my sins. Incredible as it may seem, honour killings are still accepted within our religion.

"Ever since my family arranged this marriage for me, I've been terrified that, on my wedding night, my secret would come out. It has only been since my surgery last week that I've actually been able to sleep properly. Now, I can look forward to my marriage."

Salim is far from alone in seeking such drastic -- and almost barbaric -- surgery.

The rise in Islamic fundamentalism has seen 24 women in the U.K. have the procedure between 2005 and 2006.
You can't make this stuff up! Hopefully they won't circumcise her as well....

Iran Is Making a Greater Push Into Nicaragua

Hmm...

From FNC:
Iran is establishing a Central American foothold in Nicaragua, to the alarm of some U.S. state department officials, it is being reported.

The San Antonio News-Express said Monday that Nicaragua, with the backing of its Venezuelan ally, has been forging a new partnership with Iran.

Part of that relationship comes in the form of a $350 million deep-water port at Monkey Point on Nicaragua's Atlantic coast that is to extend across the continent to the Pacific Ocean. Iran has also recently opened an embassy in Nicaraguan capital of Managua.

Click here to read the full San Antonio News-Express article.

Some state department officials are concerned that Iran's presence in Nicaragua would allow Tehran to stage strikes on American interests by deploying the terrorist group Hezbollah and Revolutionary Guard operatives already in Latin America, the Express reported.

Cargo-News Asia reported that the port, which is expected to provide connectivity to the ports in the East Coast of the United States and to Europe, could be a possible windfall for the poverty stricken country. The project is seen as an about-face for a country that has been reluctant to embrace foreign investment, it wrote.
the danger exists obviously and the threat has been made by Iran of unleashing Hezbollah on the U.S., so this is troubling.

What if border residents don't WANT a fence?

ADDED by The Uncooperative Blogger: I could care less how it affects anyone on the border, your country comes first; never forget that.

Cross posted from Right Truth:

Many who are opposed to illegal aliens crossing the Southern border have pushed for a fence. But what about the landowners along the border? How does this affect their property, their means to making a living, access to water for crops of livestock? Do these people have any say in what happens on their property?

"In a written ultimatum to South Texas landowners opposed to plans to build a border fence, federal officials foreshadow the possible use of eminent domain to buy land for border fence construction."

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff sent the letter to property owners who either refused or ignored requests to let federal land surveyors on their property.

The letter says the government will first try to negotiate with landowners for the purchase of property it needs for construction of the fence. But it also warns that if no deal is reached, the government may go to court to "seek title and possession, and the court will determine fair market value." (ChronWatch)

Some protesters say the fence will destroy their property, others are worried about nature, natural habitats, etc. The legitimate concerns of landowners must betaken into consideration.

Petition Congress to Reinstate $3 Billion in Border Fence Funds, from Numbers USA:

Read it and sign it at: www.ReformUS.org

Without explanation, Congress has stripped away $3 billion in desperately needed funds to build the Border Fence that it approved last year and to provide for other border security.

That's right—without telling the public, Congress is pulling the plug on the U.S.-Mexico Border Fence that it voted for with such enthusiasm last year (just before they asked voters to re-elect them).

Help us turn this petition into a national overnight phenomenon. Time is critical—Congress will finalize this funding question before Christmas!

Will you take a minute to sign it right now? Go to www.ReformUS.org.

IF CONGRESS DOES NOT RESTORE THE FUNDING . . .

. . . THERE WILL BE NO BORDER FENCE!

Border Patrol Agents Fire Tear Gas Over Border at Mexican Attackers

Border Patrol agents are firing tear gas and powerful pepper-spray weapons across the border into Mexico to repel what the agency says are an increasing number of attacks by assailants hurling rocks, bottles and bricks.
Good! It is about time they did something to defend themselves.
The counteroffensive has drawn complaints that innocent families are being caught in the crossfire.

"A neighbor shouted, 'Stop it! There are children living here," said Esther Arias Medina, 41, who on Wednesday fled her Tijuana, Mexico, shanty with her 3-week-old grandson after the infant began coughing from smoke that seeped through the walls.

A helmeted agent on the U.S. side said nothing as he stood with a rifle on top of a 10-foot border fence next to the three-room home that Arias shares with six others.

"We don't deserve this," Arias said. "The people who live here don't throw rocks. Those are people who come from the outside, but we're paying the price."
That is right! That is how it works, if your government, fellow citizens and police cannot control these people, we will. Unfortunately for you, you will suffer for their actions.
The Border Patrol says its agents have been attacked nearly 1,000 times during a one-year period.

The agency's top official in San Diego, Mike Fisher, said agents are taking action because Mexican authorities have been slow to respond. When an attack happens, he said, American authorities often wait hours for them to come, and help usually never arrives.

"We have been taking steps to ensure that our agents are safe," Fisher said.

Mexico's acting consul general in San Diego, Ricardo Pineda, has insisted that U.S. authorities stop firing onto Mexican soil. He met with Border Patrol officials last month after the agency fired tear gas into Mexico. The agency defended that counterattack, saying agents were being hit with a hail of ball bearings from slingshots in Mexico.
Tough! Your citizen's are attacking our Border Patrol on U.S. soil! We will defend ourselves!
Agent Joseph Ralph estimates he has been struck by rocks 20 times since joining the Border Patrol in 1987, once fracturing a shoulder blade. "You find yourself trying to take cover," he said.

About four months ago, a large rock struck the hood of agent Ellery Taylor's vehicle. "The only thing you can think is, 'I'm glad that that wasn't my head.' There's no way to see it coming," Taylor said.

In October, agents in California and Arizona received compressed-air guns that shoot pepper-spray canisters more than 200 feet. Agents already had less powerful pepper-launchers that lose their punch after about 30 feet — even less if absorbed by thick clothing or cardboard.

The Border Patrol says the pepper weapons are a less lethal alternative to regular guns, but they have caused at least one fatality. In October 2004, a college student died after she was struck in the eye by a pepper-spray canister that officers fired to control a celebration of the Red Sox's pennant win.

Border Patrol SWAT teams along the 1,952-mile U.S.-Mexico border are also equipped with tear gas, "flash bombs" that emit blinding light and "sting ball" grenades that disperse hundreds of tiny rubber pellets.

U.S. officials say the new tactics may spare lives. An agent shot and killed a 20-year-old Mexican man whose arm was cocked back in March in Calexico, Calif., where rock attacks have soared in the last year. Two years ago, an agent fatally shot a rock thrower at the San Diego-Tijuana border.

No criminal charges were filed in either case.

Cracks found in 2 F-15 fighter jets at US base in Japan

Cracks were found in two F-15 fighter jets based in Japan during checks following the crash of an F-15C in the United States last month, the U.S. military said Thursday.

The cracks were close to the canopies on the two aircraft, which were among 30 F-15s inspected at the Kadena Air base on Japan's southern island of Okinawa, the Air Force said in a statement.

The damage was found during inspections after the U.S. Air Force issued a second flight suspension order for the fighters worldwide following an F-15C crash in Missouri last month in which the pilot was injured. The Air Force lifted the first suspension order on Nov. 21 but grounded planes for the second time later that month after finding additional defects.

The current suspension "will continue until further notice," it said.

The Air Force said the F-15s will not return to operation until further inspections and repairs are completed.

“While I know that a number of you will lose currencies and the ability to maintain the proficiency that the world has come to expect,” wrote Gen. John Corley, himself an F-15 pilot, “I ask that you don't lose your focus.

“Trust that your leadership is keeping a watchful eye and will be poised to execute a plan that will put all of you back in the air as fast as safely possible.”

The prolonged grounding is impacting the training of F-15 pilots who are expected to fly between nine and a dozen times each month. The grounding does not include F-15E Strike Eagles, a two-seat bomber version of the fighter.

The most immediate qualification that pilots stand to lose is the most basic — landing.

An inexperienced F-15 pilot — a flier with less than 500 hours in the jet — is expected to fly and land an F-15 at least once every 30 days to remain qualified, an ACC spokesman said. An experienced pilot is expected to fly a minimum of once every 45 days.

While many F-15 pilots were able to log flights during the few days the jets weren’t grounded since the Nov. 3 crash, the 30-day limit approaching fast for all the new pilots.

If a pilot loses his landing qualification, he can still fly the F-15, but he’ll have to make that initial return-to-flight landing with an instructor pilot flying close by, the spokesman said. Wing leaders also have latitude to grant some waivers.

Pilots are also losing that sharp sense of what it’s like to be in fighter cockpit dealing with high-Gs, a cramped cockpit, weather, listening to the radio and keeping a watch for other aircraft. Fighter pilots who don’t fly for as little as two weeks are often expected to fly a basic sortie as their first flight back in the cockpit.

While active-duty F-15s bases are equipped with high-fidelity simulators, the simulators can’t recreate the physical stresses of piloting a high-performance jet. During day-to-day training, the simulators are used for rehearsing missions and practicing emergency and other procedures.

So far, no additional jets have been found with cracks in the suspect longerons that reinforce the front of the jet and support the canopy structure. Inspections of the F-15s turned up eight F-15 with cracked longerons, including the Missouri Air National Guard F-15 that crashed Nov. 3
The Air Force has 676 F-15 aircraft available in it's fleet and on average these planes are 15.5 years old. The oldest models range in age from 24-29 years.

Two of the jets were assigned to the 18th Wing, Kadena Air Base, Japan; one to the 325th Fighter Wing, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.; and four to the Oregon Air National Guard’s 173rd Fighter Wing at Kingsley Field.

The Florida and Oregon units are training wings while Kadena is an operational unit.

Meanwhile in Afghanistan...

F-18 fighters aboard the aircraft USS Enterprise have been called in to backfill in Afghanistan after all non-mission critical F-15 flights were temporarily suspended Saturday following the crash of an older model during a routine training session in Missouri last week.

The Air Force has been struggling to free up funds to purchase more advanced aircraft such as the stealth F-22 Raptor, one the most advanced aircraft available, to replace these older planes. Attempts to create funds in recent months involved drawing down forces by 40,000 airmen, an effort that Air Force Secretary Michael Wynn has said "isn't working."

The competition in the air may soon be getting stronger. China has increased its military budget by about 17.8 percent to about $45 billion this year, and Air Force officials here say China is working to match technology of our F-22. Currently the Air Force has only 97 F-22s available for use.

To top all this off, I heard on The Fox News channel last night that Canada will be flying missions over Alaska to protect it from Russian incursions. However, I cannot find this anywhere on the net; so it is unverified.

Aruba Prosecutors End Investigation Into Disappearance of American Teen Natalee Holloway

I am sorry they could not solve the case, but I tired of the non-news coverage of this story to death.

From FNC:
Authorities have closed the investigation into the disappearance of Natalee Holloway and do not have evidence to charge anyone, the prosecutors' office said Tuesday.

The three young men who were last seen with the Alabama teenager have all been notified that they will not be charged, the Public Prosecutor's Office said.

"The public prosecutor's office and the police have gone the extra mile and have exhausted all their powers and techniques in order to solve the mystery of the disappearance of the girl," it said.

'Death Star Galaxy' Blasts Neighbor With Lethal Jet

Just interesting...

From FNC:
For the first time astronomers have witnessed a supermassive black hole blasting its galactic neighbor with a deadly beam of energy.

The "death star galaxy," as NASA astronomers called it, could obliterate the atmospheres of planets but also trigger the birth of stars in the wake of its destructive beam.

Fortunately, the cosmic violence is a safe distance from our own neck of the cosmos.

HOW - 2007, by Darlene Fitzgerald.

Published by request...

Over this past year, there have been numerous articles,
Senate testimony and reports detailing the Bush
administration’s squandering of billions of our tax
dollars with virtually nothing to show for it. As recent as
this month, the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in
Washington (CREW) released yet another shocking report
appropriately entitled, “Homeland Security for Sale - DHS:
Five Years of Mismanagement,” which was aired on MSNBC and
published in several major newspapers. In June 2007, the
Washington Post released an article entitled, “DHS, 124
Million Dollars - No Bid Contracts.” Another article
entitled, “Getting Hosed by DHS” and another quotes
Senator Leahy on January 4, 2007 as stating, “More than 50
billion to Iraq private contractors hired to guard busses,
drive trucks, food and shelter troops and rebuild the
country,”and of course there’s not much to show for it.
I could go on and on report after report, but I think you
get the picture.

Each and every time one of these reports exposes the
latest-greatest scandal, the immediate response from the
American public is of course, “HOW can this happen!” As
an insider of our government for many years, as a National
Security Whistleblower, author and most importantly, a
caring citizen who has avidly fought against this “HOW”
for almost 30 years now, I’ve learned a few things about
“HOW.”

Most of the above-mentioned scandals that have managed to
actually make it into the main stream media, no easy task I
might add, make it appear as though this “HOW” is the
result of some illusive, complicated, overwhelming machinery
that is our government. This is simply not so. In my
humble opinion, “HOW” can be broken down into some
basic, simple principals that we as Americans can
understand.

First, we have to realize that our government is made up of
human beings, with all the frailties, good and evil, of our
species. I like to divide government employees (including
the folks at the very top - Congress, Bush administration,
etc.) into four (4) basic categories:

1. Greedy, self-absorbed people whose only real interest in
their jobs is to see just how powerful and rich they can
become, by hook or by crook (mostly the latter). These
employees, unfortunately, tend to rise to the top of every
agency over the backs, or through them with a knife, of the
folks in category number four (4) below. These are people
who have no conscience and truly believe that they are above
the law. This, as you may imagine, is the most dangerous
category.

2. Lazy people. These are the folks that will just “go
along to get along.” They are content in doing just
enough to get by to get a pay check, and not enough to make
any real difference. They will turn their heads the other
way, and maybe even go along with things they know are
wrong. They feel that they can simply ride the coattails of
the folks in category number one (1).

3. Cowards. These are basically good hard-working
government employees that ignore obvious waist, fraud and
abuse in our government because they will feel guilty about
doing nothing - which is exactly what they will do -
nothing. These are people who justify in their minds that
what they think they are witnessing just can’t be
happening (denial), or justify in their minds why they have
to stay silent. FEAR drives this category of folks, and for
good reason, to be further explained below.

4. Stand Ups. These are good, honest folks who work hard,
and refuse to cave into the fear. What fear you ask? The
fear that this article is about, because you see, the FEAR
is the answer to the “HOW.” I’m speaking of the fear
that will be most certainly generated when their government
chain of command retaliates against them, unencumbered by
any real laws or regulations, when these folks dare to
speak truth to power. These folks will find themselves very
quickly at a crossroads where they have a decision to make -
fall into one of the above categories, quit their jobs and
loose their careers, or become a Whistleblower, and stand up
to the bullies that their managers and most coworkers will
very quickly become if they refuse to shut up and get in
line. These people find themselves between a rock and a
hard place - and this is where we get the “HOW” in our
government.

On May 15, 2007, the Government Accountability Project
(GAP), the No Fear Coalition, the Project on Government, No Fear Coalition
Oversite (POGO), and several other Whistleblower
organizations sponsored the Washington Whistleblower Week in
Washington, D.C. in support of the much needed
“Whistleblower Protection Act,” Senate Bill #494 and the
“No Fear Act,” Senate Bill #201. Whistleblowers from
all around the country came to testify before a
Congressional panel in order to get these bills passed.
These bills have already passed the House, overwhelmingly,
and were sitting idle in the Senate. It is important to
note that it was officially read into the record that more
than 700 government employees wanted to appear and testify
at this hearing. This alone, demonstrates clearly just how
pervasive and systemic Whistleblower retaliation has become
in our government. I was fortunate enough to be one of the
25 or so who were allowed to give live testimony.

As I sat there all day listening to the testimony of some of
the bravest folks I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting
tell their horrendous stories exposing government waist,
fraud, corruption and abuse on an enormous scale, I noticed
a few things:

A. Most of these stories were extremely well documented
and witnessed. I’m sure that is exactly why they were
chosen over others to give this testimony.

B. Secondly, most of these stories weren’t covered by
the main stream media, and they most certainly should have
been. Some of these stories I’ve summarized below. When
you read what they were in fact whistleblowing about, I’m
sure that you will agree that they were more than worthy of
main stream media attention.

C. The folks that were selected to testify were the
“Cream of the crop” employees with the highest of
ratings on their progress reports - before they blew the
whistle. Most of them brought along their employee folders
which included numerous awards and commendations,
promotions, rave reviews and other accolades just to further
demonstrate this point. Further, most of them had many
years as a government employee, all in good standing.

D. Finally, everyone of these highly decorated, highly
promoted, “Cream of the crop” employees immediately
became labeled by their agencies as unproductive,
incompetent, lazy, and/or crazy, immediately after they
followed their conscience and bravely reported the waste,
fraud, abuse, or corruption that they had witnessed.
Moreover, most of them had either been fired, were in the
process of being fired, or facing criminal charges.

I’ve written a short summary of the testimony of just a
few of the Whistleblowers, including my own. I highly
encourage all who read this article to go online, type in
their names, and read their testimony in its entirety.

1.) Bunnatine Greenhouse

Ms. Greenhouse was a United States Army Corps of Engineers,
senior procurement executive who blew the whistle on
violations of issuing government contracts to Halliburton,
“As the ramp-up to the Iraqi War escalated.” Greenhouse
did what most loyal government employees do. She notified
her concerns to her chain of command. “I immediately
questioned whether the corps had the legal authority to
function as the Army’s delegated contracting authority.
The Corps had absolutely no competencies related to oil
production. Restoration of oil production was simply
outside of the scope of our congressionally mandated
mission,” she explained. “But it was too late, the
Halliburton express had already left the station.”

“I raised concern with officials representing the
Department of Defense, The Department of the Army and the
Corps of Engineers....after the draft had been approved by
representatives of the office of the Secretary of Defense,
the five year, no compete clause remained in place. I could
not sign the document in good faith knowing that this
extended period was unreasonable... Therefore, next to my
signature I handwrote the following comment directly onto
the original document: I caution that extending this sole
source effort beyond a one year period could convey an
invalid perception that there is not strong intent for a
limited competition.” Ms. Greenhouse did this to insure
that her concern over this obvious blatant abuse of this
process would not be overlooked. “Instead, it was just
ignored,” she added.

On December 11, 2003, the Defense Contract Audit Agency
issued a draft report on concluding that this contract
overcharge for the purchase of fuel by $61,000,000.
However, the firestorm over this issue was significantly
dampened a week later when, “The Corps simply asserted
that the price charge for the fuel was “fair and
reasonable.”

Ms. Greenhouse would not back down and just go away. As the
pressure mounted she was eventually, “summoned to a
meeting” where they notified her that she was to be
removed from her Senior Executive Service and from her
position. “I had no other alternative at that juncture
but to file a formal request or investigation with the
then-Acting Secretary of the Army and to appropriate members
of Congress.” She ended her testimony by thanking the
National Whistleblower Center for their support for,
“Without their effort I could not have survived the
political firestorm that burns around me.”

2.) Dr. Marsha Coleman-Adebayo

Dr. Coleman-Adebayo was a senior policy analyst fo the
Environment Protection Agency (EPA), until she was
terminated, shortly after she reported that an American
company was generating toxic waste that was poisoning
African workers. At that time, she was serving as an
African affairs specialist on the Gore-Mbeki Commission.
Instead of being praised for her findings, she was removed
from the commission. She has received extreme harassment,
death and rape threats when she exposed the environmental
and human disasters taking place in the Brits, South Africa,
vanadium mines. Her concerns were eerily similar to the
complaints of other Whistleblowers. On August 18th, 2000, a
federal jury found the EPA guilty of violating the civil
rights of Dr. Coleman-Adebayo on the basis of a hostile work
environment.

3.) Bogdon Dzakovic

Mr. Dzakovic was a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
security expert who blew the whistle on lax oversight and
testing of security at airports, before and after 9-11.
Dzakovic began by explaining HOW abuses of secrecy are a,
“clear and present danger to homeland security.”
Dzakovic had served seven (7) years with the FAA Red Team,
which conducted undercover test on airport security through
simulated terrorist attacks. “Although we breached
security with ridiculous ease up to 90% of the time, the FAA
suppressed these warnings. Instead we were ordered not to
write up our findings and not to retest airports.” After
the terrorist attack on 9-11 the FAA and other government
officials were all seen in different reports, and in
testimony to Congress saying things like Secretary Rice
stated, “How could we have known this was going to
happen?” “The truth is,” stated Dzakovic, “they did
know. What happened on 9-11 was not a failure in the
system, it was a system designed for failure. FAA very
conscientiously and deliberately orchestrated a dangerous
facade of security.” Dzakovic further testified, “There
are serious indications that FAA deceived the public about
what happened on 9-11.”

About a month after 9-11, Dzakovic filed a Whistleblower
Disclosure against FAA with the U.S. Office of Special
Counsel (OSC). Last year the OSC found a substantial
likelihood that Dzakovic was right and ordered Secretary
Mineta to investigate. “Immediately after our Red Team
warnings were vindicated, however, we were grounded. Later
I was removed from my position as a Red Team leader with no
explanation and placed in a career limbo,” he testified to
the panel.

Dzakovic did what most Whistleblowers do and he took his
concerns to the Inspector General’s (IG) Office. A senior
official from that office stated to him that, “The IG
couldn’t take any action against the FAA unless you give
me a dead body and a smoking gun, I can’t do anything
against the FAA.” Dzakovic further testified “Well, we
now have nearly 3,000 dead bodies, and a smoking cannon, and
the IG still refuses to take action against the FAA.”
“...not one person has been disciplined for mismanaging an
agency that operated in a manner that was a substantial and
specific danger to public safety contributing directly to
the nearly 3,000 deaths on 9-11. As a matter of fact, many
of these same managers have been promoted within TSA and are
still with the FAA, and are managing the FAA internal
investigations/security mission and its hazardous materials
mission in precisely the same way asit mismanaged its
previous aviation security mission before 9-11.”

TSA has been reported repeatedly for misuses of hundreds of
millions of dollars of taxpayer’s money while civil
aviation security is, “little better now than it was
before 9-11" according to Dzakovic. Meanwhile Dzakovic
testified that he has been relegate to doing jobs like,
“punching holes in paper and putting orientation binders
together for the hundreds of newly hired TSA employees. My
current job is even further removed from keeping bombs,
weapons and terrorist off planes.”

4.) Darlene Fitzgerald - summary of my testimony before the
Congressional panel:

I had more than 20 years of combined law enforcement
experience in the military, private industry and as a
Special Agent, when I resigned from my agency because I
refused to work for an agency that was worse than the people
I put in jail. In 1998 I was in charge of a U.S. Customs
task force operating an extensive investigation called
Operation Rite Rail. We uncovered tons of narcotics and
contraband being facilitated into the U.S. from Mexico via
railroad tanker cars - with the apparent approval of U.S.
Customs managers. This resulted in a landmark civil case in
federal court: Fitzgerald - Nunn Vs. Department of Homeland
Security. At this trial Superior Court Judge Yvette
Palazuelos took the stand as our witness and made history by
being the first sitting judge ever to testify against the
U.S. government.

High level-Customs’ managers shut down my investigation
into narcotics smuggling. I had already seized 8000 pounds
of marijuana and 34 kilos of uncut cocaine in just one
pressurized railroad tanker car. I had in my grasp five
more of these cars imported from Mexico that were improperly
manifested as “empty,” yet contained 25 to 40 tons of
suspected contraband. I was ordered off the case and told
to shut down my operation.

At the trial, Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAIC) Gary
Pinkava took the stand for Customs, and admitted without
elaboration that he would not allow me or my supervisor to
pressure test, at no charge to the government, these highly
suspected tanker cars. This would have been the largest
seizure on record for any agency. Subsequently, these
tanker cars were surreptitiously released into the commerce
of the U.S. uninspected by anyone.

Sufficient evidence to warrant a grand jury investigation of
the following was most certainly exposed at the above styled
trial: Witness tampering, Facilitation of the importation of
25 to 40 tons of contraband into the U.S., Perjury,
Misprision of Felony, and possible Subornation of Perjury.
This evidence was sufficient to warrant the initiation of a
grand jury investigation - yet there was none. (Complete
transcripts of this trial testimony may be read at
www.BorderGate.net.) Further, since the submission of our
witness list in this case, every single person on that list
has been either severely harassed, arrested, investigated,
threatened, and / or fired.

What my task force and I also exposed is the horrendous
national security terrorist threat that these rail tanker
cars pose to our nation. Timothy McVey blew up the Federal
Murrah Building in Oklahoma City with about one ton of
ammonium nitrate in an unsealed-cargo truck. This cowardly
attack killed scores of people and resulted in more than
eleven damaged buildings being torn down. Yet a terrorist
can put forty times this amount of ammonium nitrate in a
railroad tanker car and pressurize it. This would create
what is essentially the world’s largest “pipe bomb.”

It is important to note that there have been no other rail
tanker car seizures since that done by my task force in
1998. Have the drug smugglers and terrorist simply quit
trying to enter the U.S., or have they been operating freely
with the assistance of corrupt and / or incompetent managers
within DHS.

The real victims here are all of the brave Whistleblowers
who have come forward with important information that
exposes threats to our national security. What has
happened, and continues to happen to all the Whistleblowers
in my “BorderGate” story is not only wrong, but it
places our country at grave risk as well. To quote a famous
French free thinker Voltaire, “Being right is dangerous
when government is wrong.”

That concluded my testimony.

It is important to note that the only major news
organization that covered this important Congressional
testimony was CSPAN. No other major news agency bothered
covering this most important, scandalous testimony. This
too is a large part of the problem which results in the
“HOW.” In years past, the media was the ultimate check
and balance for our government. Now, I’m sad to say, they
are not. Had the media rolled up their sleeves and not
“jumped in the boat” with the Bush administration - Had
they done their jobs and asked the hard questions in the
first place, maybe we would have never rushed into the Iraq
war.

When the media does squeeze a Whistleblower’s story into
their busy day of Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and
Ellen’s dog, they only tell about the scandal itself. I
have yet to see any main stream media conduct a followup on
what happens to the Whistleblower who risked everything to
bring them the information. The public never knows of how
the Whistleblower is almost always fired from their job, and
then cleverly “blackballed” from future employment by
their previous government managers. You never hear about
how the Whistleblower is usually the major bred-winner of
the family, and when they can no longer work their spouses
don’t understand and divorce them. The Whistleblower
becomes isolated, loses his/her home, files bankruptcy and
is dragged through a divorce. Then, because of the mountain
of stress piled upon them in a relatively short period of
time, the Whistleblower begins to have serious health
problems. I personally know of too many Whistleblowers who
have died from stress related heart conditions, or have just
outright given up and committed suicide. Their lives are
destroyed, and all because they had the guts to do the right
thing. I personally have had family members state, “You
had that great job making all that money and didn’t have
the brains to just shut up and keep your job - how
stupid.” This is rarely, if ever, covered by the media.
To the press, the Whistleblower is simply cannon fodder - a
person to use to get their story.

Maybe, if the media would air more time and space to
Whistleblowers instead of hours and hours of Britney Spears
and Paris Hilton, maybe if they did their jobs, maybe we
wouldn’t be asking so much about “HOW.” I’m
convinced that if Richard Nixon had completed his
“Watergate” crimes in 2007, he would have gotten away
with it. The days of “investigative journalism” by real
reporters are seemingly over. It’s all too easy and much
cheaper for media executives to air “talking head” news
on Britney Spears and Paris Hilton than to do investigative
reporting.

As I sat in Congress that day in May 2007 and listened to
the numerous accounts of government waste, fraud,
corruption, abuse, and most important, the horrendous
retaliation faced by the Whistleblowers who dared to speak
truth to power, I realized that I had the answer to HOW.
This is HOW our government officials get away with it all -
because they can. As you read this article, what is
probably the most important piece of legislation in our
history sits dormant in the Senate. The Whistleblower
Protection Act would provide a real punch to the “HOW.”
Yet, our Senate does nothing, and our media has yet to
report that this bill is being ignored - much like how the
media has ignored the Whistleblowers themselves who dare to
take on the “HOW.”

Further, as you read this letter our national debt grows at
just under $ONE MILLION DOLLARS A MINUTE (as reported on
December 6th, 2007 by MSNBC & other news organizations),
largely due to stories like the ones testified to by
Whistleblowers this year before Congress. Now that you the
reader fully understands “HOW,” I encourage all who
read this to do your part to assist Whistleblowers to combat
the “HOW” by calling or writing to Senator Harry Reid.
Senator Reid has the power to move this bill to the floor
for a vote. Every phone call or letter to his office will
help (202) 224-3542 / fax (202) 224-7327. I also encourage

Virus Starts Like a Cold But Can Turn Into a Killer

I know it is WaPo, but it is not political so we can use it. This is just a heads up to see your doctor if your symptoms do not go away and start getting worse.

From WaPo:
Infectious-disease expert David N. Gilbert was making rounds at the Providence Portland Medical Center in Oregon in April when he realized that an unusual number of patients, including young, vigorous adults, were being hit by a frightening pneumonia.

"What was so striking was to see patients who were otherwise healthy be just devastated," Gilbert said. Within a day or two of developing a cough and high fever, some were so sick they would arrive at the emergency room gasping for air.[snip]

Gilbert alerted state health officials, a decision that led investigators to realize that a new, apparently more virulent form of a virus that usually causes nothing worse than a nasty cold was circulating around the United States. At least 1,035 Americans in four states have been infected so far this year by the virus, known as an adenovirus. Dozens have been hospitalized, many requiring intensive care, and at least 10 have died.[snip...]

"This virus has the capability of causing severe respiratory illness in people of all ages, regardless of their medical condition," said John Su, a disease investigator for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention based in Texas, where the largest outbreak is tapering off at an Air Force base after 10 months. Other outbreaks have been reported in Washington state and South Carolina, along with a single case in an infant in New York City.

"What people need to understand is that there is a virus out there that can make you very, very sick," Su said. "If you have a bad cold and your symptoms keep getting worse, go see your doctor. This is nothing to be necessarily alarmed about. But it is important to be aware that this bug is out there."

"Infectious agents have the capacity to mutate and change form, and from time to time, either genuinely new agents appear or old agents appear in new guises," said William Schaffner, an infectious-disease expert at Vanderbilt University. "This appears to be another one of those emerging infections that has taken on genetic material or mutated so that it is now more virulent than it used to be."

The virus, which spreads like those that cause flu or colds, raises many questions: Why has it suddenly become more common? Why is it apparently more dangerous? How often does it make people seriously ill? Who is most vulnerable? Is the threat growing or fading?

"We don't know why it's associated with these severe cases," said Dean D. Erdman, who is studying the virus at CDC headquarters in Atlanta. "We don't know whether it's going to become a bigger problem in the future or whether we'll see more outbreaks of severe disease. These are all questions we're trying to answer."

There are 51 known strains of adenovirus, ubiquitous germs that cause many illnesses, including colds, pinkeye, bronchitis, stomach flu and a respiratory infection called boot camp flu that has long plagued soldiers. But adenovirus infections rarely have been life-threatening, especially for healthy young adults.

The new adenovirus is a variant of a strain known as adenovirus 14. First identified in Holland in 1955, it has caused sporadic outbreaks in Europe and Asia. No outbreaks, however, had ever been documented in the Western Hemisphere.

But then Gilbert started seeing patients like Joseph Spencer, 18, a high school varsity swimmer who was suddenly racked by fever, chills and vomiting.

"At first I thought it was just the flu," Spencer said. "But then it was the worst feeling I ever had. I felt so miserable. I really felt like I was dying."

Spencer's mother took him to the emergency room, where he was placed in intensive care, sedated and put on a respirator. "Even then, we told the family we didn't think he was going to survive," Gilbert said.

The teen spent 18 days in the hospital and was able to return home. But after weeks of bed rest and physical therapy, he remains short of breath and weak, and he is having memory problems.

"I don't know if I'll ever be fully recovered," Spencer said. "I never imagined anything like this would ever happen to me."

Spencer was not even the sickest. Of the 30 patients Oregon officials identified as having the virus, seven died. "That's an incredibly high mortality rate," Gilbert said.

At about the same time, health officials learned of another outbreak affecting four residents of a nursing home in Washington state, including one person who died, as well as a far larger outbreak at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. At least 579 recruits have been infected since February at the base, including at least 24 who had to be hospitalized. One recruit, Paige Villers, 19, of Norton, Ohio, died after getting mononucleosis and the virus.

"All of a sudden out of nowhere she just got sick," said Villers's mother, Michelle. "She thought it was just something she needed to fight off. But instead of getting better, she just got worse and worse."

Another 220 cases later turned up at other Texas military bases, along with about 200 more cases at the Marine Corps' Parris Island installation in South Carolina.

Investigators also determined that an otherwise healthy 12-day-old girl who died in Manhattan in May 2006 had been infected with the same strain.

A genetic analysis of the microbe at the CDC revealed that the currently circulating version of the virus is slightly different from the original 1955 strain, suggesting the microbe had mutated in some way to make it more virulent. [snip...]

The CDC reported the emergence of the virus and 362 cases on Nov. 16, but additional infections have since occurred in Texas and the report did not include the South Carolina patients.

In Oregon, further testing has shown that the virus now accounts for more than half of all adenovirus infections. "That's shocking," said Paul Lewis, a state health investigator. "It went from being imperceptible to being the majority."

Ilegal Aliens and Election Fraud

Cross posted from Faultline USA

As the left proclaims that there will be a massive Latino voter turnout
in 2008, more and more cities across the nation are claiming that they
can’t stop voter fraud among illegal aliens. The following is a summary
and full text of yesterday’s press release from American Unity Legal Defense Fund.

Summary:
American
Unity Legal Defense Fund files Amicus Curiae brief in Crawford vs.
Marion County Elections Board case pending before the Supreme Court.
They ask the Court to consider the danger of illegal aliens voting:

Illegal Alien Issue Added to Supreme Court Voter ID Case

Non-profit
Group's Amicus Brief Asks Court to Consider Election Fraud by
Non-Citizens in Crawford vs. Marion County Elections Board.

(Warrenton,
VA)..The American Unity Legal Defense Fund (AULDF) filed an Amicus
Curiae brief today in the Crawford vs. Marion County Elections Board
case now pending before the U.S. Supreme Court. The case centers on the
State of Indiana's attempts to protect its election day operations by
requiring voters to show photo identification at the polls.

AULDF's
brief, in support of Indiana's voter identification law, supports the
state’s position by specifically asking the Court to consider the
danger of non-citizens casting ballots. The Amicus brief states: "Cases
and reports over many years indicate that non-citizens have voted
illegally across the country."

Opponents to the Indiana law who
have filed Amici briefs include the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the ACLU,
the Indiana Democratic Party, and the Mexican American Legal Defense
and Education Fund (MALDEF). They claim: "... mandating that those
seeking to vote in-person produce a government issued photo
identification violates the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the
United States Constitution." Further, they argue that "in-person voter
impersonation fraud" - which they contend is the only problem addressed
by the statute in question - "does not exist."

Yet AULDF
uncovered several instances of clear, documented "in-person voter
impersonation fraud" in the first city it examined. Numerous other
voter frauds were also detected which could have resulted in voter
impersonation frauds. Some included forgery. But others included changes
in existing registration data, a pattern which has been repeated across
the country. These trends, contend AULDF, could have easily led to
voter impersonation fraud.

AULDF asserts that opponents to the
Indiana law have failed to recognize the value of voter identification
procedures in stopping actual and potential voter impersonations.

AULDF
points out that illegal aliens increasingly perpetrate registration
fraud. “[T]he lack of immigration law enforcement is significant," and
that the threat of non-citizens impacting the election process is
growing. For "illegal immigrants, voting records have a substantial
value as evidence of employment eligibility."

More importantly,
asserts AULDF, recent political efforts have given illegal immigrants a
non-economic incentive to participate in election-related activities:
to increase political “clout” in hopes of achieving immigration law
changes.

Edith Hakola, Executive Vice President of the American
Unity Legal Defense Fund commented, "We entered this case because the
integrity of the electoral process is crucial to participatory
democracy. Voter fraud breeds distrust of our government." Mrs. Hakola,
a Virginia attorney who was appointed by President Reagan to the
ten-member council of the Administrative Conference of the United
States, also said "Voters who fear their legitimate votes will be
outweighed by non-citizens who fraudulently cast ballots will be
discouraged from exercising their right to vote. We want the Supreme
Court to consider this threat to our democracy in their deliberations."

non-profit educational organization dedicated to preserving our
historical unity as Americans into the 21st Century.

Mexico, Islam, Politicians, and Illegal Aliens

Mexico, S.A. Cozying Up To Kalifascist Islam, Iran, written by The Canadian Sentinel. I included a link to this article in the Sunday Reading List, but felt it deserved to be highlighted on it's own. The Canadian Sentinel is a fellow member of Vigilant Freedom and other fine groups fighting for Western freedoms. I encourage you to go read other articles by this author.:

Former Iran Prez Khatami hosted by Mexican Prez Calderon

Like hell we Americans and Canadians should be integrating our nations with the Mexicans!

Like hell there should be a three-way "North American Union" including Mexico!

In a little notice meeting reflecting growing ties between South America and the Islamic world, Mexican President Felipe Calderon welcomed former Iranian President Mohamed Khatami to Mexico City.

The two leaders met Wednesday at Los Pinos, Mexico's
official presidential residence, to discuss deepening cultural bonds
with the Islamic world in the face of Western notions of a "clash of
civilizations.

The visit drew virtually no mention in the press outside of Mexico, even in Iran.

(...)

In July, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez met in Tehran with Iran's
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, reflecting Tehran's recent campaign to
develop closer ties with Latin America.

In September, Ahmadinejad met with Fidel Castro in Cuba,
where the communist dictator endorsed the Iranian leader's efforts to
further the goals of the Islamic revolution begun by Ayatollah Khomeini.

The International Center for Dialogue between Civilizations was
opened in 2006 by Islamic Dawa of Chauen, a militant Shiite Islamic
group originally formed in Iraq, and the radical Junta Islamica of Spain.

Like hell we're going to consider this latest contact by an
Iranian regime representative with Mexico's current president as a mere
"dialogue between civilizations"... after all, evil has been referring
to itself in warm and fuzzy terms for a long time, fooling the Left
every time.

Beware the Mexi-Islamist trojan horse.

No to any "union" with imperialist-fascist dhimmi Mexico!

How dare Mexico send millions of illegal aliens up into America and
Canada while itself being relatively hostile and discriminatory towards
non-citizens living in Mexico? How dare Mexico demand its illegal
aliens be treated as citizens in other nations? How dare Mexico accuse
us of "growing racist hostility against Mexicans and Mexican-Americans
in the USA"? How dare Mexico? Look at the Islamofascistically-hostile
company they keep! Look at how they treat non-Mexicans, as second-class
residents without citizenship rights while demanding equal-to-citizen
treatment for the aliens they send northwards!

And... how dare the Left agree with those fascist bastards! What
shall we therefore think of our own Leftists, other than they're
fascist bastards themselves?

And... deport the illegals. Close the borders to illegals.
Let Mexico take care of its own people. They aren't our responsibility-
they're Mexico's responsibility. We will not have "Palestinians" with
their imaginary "right of return" pouring into our sovereign nations.

Tell Mexico to take care of its own people, including the poor. How
would they like it if they were to have millions of Americans and
Canadians invading their country, demanding equivalent-to-citizen
rights and taxpayer-funded services on the phony basis of "human
rights"?

How would Mexico like it if America and Canada dumped their
unemployed, unemployable and poor people by the millions onto that
country? They sure wouldn't, the hypocritical, mean-spirited, racist
bastards!

You know, it now appears to me that Mexico is cleansing itself of poor, unemployed people.

What does one call that? You know, it's a lot like
the Islamist/Arab World refusing to accept Muslims/Arabs they call
"Palestinians" into their own nations. It's the same thing. Expect
Mexico to, in future, fabricate a tale similar to that of the myth of
"Palestine"... for sinister, selfish purposes. The illegal aliens are
being used as pawns by Mexico, just as the "Palestinians" are being
used by the Islamic World as pawns to destroy Israel, using a phony
story recommended to them by the KGB.

Only fools would believe that Mexico is a partner for "security and prosperity".

And anyone who dares denounce me for speaking the obvious is
themselves no better than the Mexican regime and the Islamic
supremacist-imperialists. Or the Russians under the tyrannical Putin or
the horrendously inhuman, finger-on-the-imperialist-trigger Communist
Chinese regime.

No tolerance for intolerance. No apology for being free.

The GRID contains information that really is quite
shocking. Most of you are aware that several of the candidates favor
amnesty for the illegal aliens already in this country but claim (as do
all 15 candidates of both parties) that they favor stopping FUTURE

that experts agree would be necessary to actually stop the illegal
flow. In essence, 9 of the 15 candidates are promising to allow illegal
immigration to continue at an outrageously high level. Look at the

Dealing with Illegal Immigrants Through Attrition

Cross posted from Virtuous Republic

The supporters and enablers of illegal immigration, always argue
against those of us on the other side by saying that we want mass
deportations. They go on to say that mass deportations are impossible
and therefore, the only real alternative is amnesty.

Of course
there is another route to repatriating illegals to their home countries
and that is through attrition. Take away their illicit jobs and deny
government benefits, and their is nothing to draw or keep illegal
aliens in the United States.

D.A. King, an advocate for stopping illegal immigration, has an excellent editorial on this subject:

The
transparent argument from those who will never relent on the
amnesty-again agenda is that because we cannot round up and deport more
than 20 million illegal aliens by sundown tomorrow (false choice "A"),
the only other option is to legalize them as part of some contrived and
disingenuous "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" program (false choice
"B").

I
know what the reader must be thinking: "Why is he bringing that up
again? The amnesty attempt of 2007 was defeated in the U.S. Senate in
June!"

Here
is why: Just weeks after this year's attempt at forcing the now
not-so-trusting American people to accept the legalization option,
another nationwide push began to prepare them for the next one - but
not until the elections are over.

But,
for the "legalization now, legalization tomorrow and legalization
forever" crowd, there is a rather inconvenient truth emerging in news
stories from around the country.

Nearly
every week Americans paying attention can read news reports from places
where the law is actually being enforced about illegal aliens giving up
and leaving for more hospitable places to look for a better life,
either in other states here or back to their home countries.

Simply put, again: Enforcement works.

For
many in the amnesty industry, the fervent hope is that either many
Americans don't realize that the legalization option was tried - and
failed - more than 21 years ago, or they can be convinced that Albert
Einstein was wrong when he remarked that one definition of insanity was
"doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different
result."

It
is past time that pundits, editors and candidates for political office
begin to recognize and discuss the third and seldom-mentioned option:
Attrition through enforcement.

It
doesn't take another Einstein to recognize that the idea of gradual
attrition of the illegal population through the enforcement of existing
laws while at the same time stopping illegal entries by securing our
borders - at any cost - will work. It simply takes good old-fashioned
common sense. Read the rest here.

And
in a related story, opponents of Arizona's strict employment law, which
will for all intents and purposes put an end to the mass job market for
illegals in that state, has survived an important court challenge:

A
federal judge late Friday tossed out the lawsuit challenging Arizona's
employer-sanctions law, setting the stage for a quick second round of
legal action before Jan. 1, when the law is set to take effect.

U.S.
District Judge Neil Wake ruled that the business and Latino groups
aimed their legal fire at the wrong targets in suing the governor and
the state attorney general. Instead, they should have brought their
complaint against the 15 county attorneys charged with enforcing the
law.

The
judge also suggested that the lawsuit was premature because there is no
evidence anyone has been harmed. The ruling stunned attorneys
representing the 12 groups that brought the suit in July.

It
has potentially wide-reaching implications for Arizona businesses.
Under the law any business that is found to have knowingly hired an
illegal worker is subject to sanctions ranging from probation to a
10-day suspension of its business licenses. A second violation would
bring permanent revocation of the license. Read more....

Secure the borders and enforce our laws---what a concept.....

Ice Storms and I feel your pain

I know bill Clinton always said "I feel your pain", which is ridiculous because I have never listened to a bigger narcissist, but this massive low pressure system causing these ice storms almost killed me. Seriously, it hurt to breathe, my hands were shaking so bad I could not type, I had no energy and the pain was excruciating. It is actually funny that I feel so good today, because I am still in pain, but it is so much better than yesterday.

I have never missed a radio show before except for a true emergency, but I canceled last nights radio show. I have done it before feeling like utter crap, but there was just no way I could do it last night. My apologies for not showing up to work, but it was literally impossible for me to focus or use my computer.

Some of you may be confused at this point. You see I moved my radio show to Monday through Thursday 8pm eastern and the show will go on tonight.

Pearl Harbor Day

Let’s take some time to remember, or learn, about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Pearl Harbor, on the Island of O’ahu, Hawaii, (then a territory of
the United States) was attacked by the Japanese Imperial Navy, at
approximately 8:00 A.M., Sunday morning, December 7, 1941. The surprise
attack had been conceived by Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto. The striking
force of 353 Japanese aircraft was led by Commander Mitsuo Fuchida.
There had been no formal declaration of war. In fact, Japanese
diplomats were in negotiations with America just prior to the attack.

Approximately 100 ships of the U.S. Navy were present that morning,
consisting of battleships, destroyers, cruisers and various support
ships.

Luckily over half the U.S. Pacific fleet was out to sea, including the carriers.

Numerous mistakes were made by the U.S. leading up to the attack, but it was Yamamoto who made the biggest mistake.

Japan attacked methodically and with deadly efficiency. Bombers,
torpedo planes, dive-bombers, all covered by Mitsubushi Zero fighter
planes, took out U.S. air power, and then hit the battleships on
“battleship row,” sinking or severely damaging every one. The worst
casualty, the U.S.S. Arizona, went down in ten minutes with thousands
of sailors on board.

Despite this phenomenal success, Yamamoto did not achieve total
victory because three key targets, the U.S. Aircraft Carriers, had been
out on maneuvers. Going in Yamamoto had expected to loose 30% of his
entire force, ships included, yet he lost nothing larger than a midget
sub, and only a handful of aircraft. In a critical, and fortuitous,
error in judgment, Yamamoto decided to take his winnings and leave the
table, without the carriers. All the battleships except the Arizona
would be salvaged and returned to action during the war. More
importantly, he left the oil storage facilities undamaged, which
allowed the U.S. to continue to operate out of Hawaii. Japan also could
not foresee that an outraged American people would be galvanized and
determined like nothing imagined.

Today we remember all those that lost their lives on that auspicious day…

Judicial Watch Obtains Videotape of Border Patrol Sector Chief Decrying Illegal Immigration Enforcement

Man, this is maddening...

From Judicial Watch:
(Washington, DC) -- Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it recently uncovered through the Freedom of Information Act a videotape (and transcript) of an August 15, 2007 town hall meeting on illegal immigration held in Laredo, Texas. During the meeting, held at Texas A&M International University’s campus, US Border Patrol (USBP) Laredo Sector Chief Carlos X. Carrillo disclaimed the illegal immigration and narcotics enforcement missions of the USBP.

"The Border Patrol’s job is not to stop illegal immigrants . . . The Border Patrol’s job is not to stop narcotics . . . or contraband or narcotics . . . the Border Patrol’s mission is not to do any of those things . . . The Border Patrol’s job is not to stop criminals . . . The Border Patrol’s job is to stop terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering this country," Mr. Carrillo stated.

To view both the video and transcript of Chief Patrol Agent Carrillo’s remarks click here.

Phoenix to End "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Policy on Illegals

Cross posted from Virtuous Republic

To me, it is almost ironic, that a city would forbid its police officers to check the immigration status of an arrestee.

Yet, that same city has no problem in raising revenue through red light cameras.
So, obviously, in the past, to the politicians of Phoenix, speeding was
more important than dealing with people who have entered our nation
illegally. Or maybe, they were just more interested in activities that
raise revenue.

Finally though, it seems that enough pressure has
been brought to bear on the mayor of Phoenix, that he is ending the
policy forbidding police to check the immigration status of those who
they arrest.

Under
increasing pressure to take a stronger stand on immigration issues,
Mayor Phil Gordon announced Monday that he would seek to end a
controversial police immigration-enforcement policy.

Operations
Order 1.4 prevents city police in most cases from asking about a
person's immigration status. Gordon said Monday that he could no longer
support the 20-year-old policy.

"When
it was written, it was right for local law enforcement and our
community," Gordon told reporters. "But it was written in another time
- and it was based on the premise that the federal government would
fulfill all its responsibilities regarding immigration enforcement.
Obviously, that has changed."

Gordon
said the new policy, to be developed by a four-man advisory panel,
should allow police to notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement when
any law has been violated by a person police suspect to be an illegal
immigrant. He said the resulting policy would uphold constitutional
rights and would prohibit racial or ethnic profiling.

The
move marks a significant step to the right on immigration for Gordon,
who had previously said the order frees officers to concentrate on
serious crimes and encouraged undocumented immigrants to cooperate with
police. Read more....

ICE's Latest Report: A Dual Edged Sword

Cross posted from Virtuous Republic

ICE released a press release noting its success in deporting
criminal aliens. While we applaud the hard work of those on the front
lines in the battle against illegal immigration, the report itself
(which follows), makes two things perfectly clear.

First, until
conservatives forced an about face by the Bush Administration on
illegal immigration, it was barely a priority, as evidenced by the
drastic increase in arrests and deportations of criminal aliens by ICE
this year. This reality can't be stressed enough. Until conservatives
made their voices heard, our government in 2003 only arrested and
deported 2,000 of these illegal criminal aliens!

And second, even
though ICE is obviously working hard and making some inroads, there are
still almost 600,000 dangerous criminal aliens amongst us.

Because
of 20, 30, maybe even 40 years of allowing mass, illegal migration
across our southern border, the U.S. is awash with millions of illegal
aliens, which depending upon which figures you use, 6% of which ICE
classifies as criminals.

Does that register? 600,000 criminal foreigners, here illegally are roaming our streets because we don't guard our border.

Those
of us opposed to illegal immigration should take some satisfaction that
through our efforts, the ball has begun to role on the enforcement
side, but the battle is far from won and we must continue to pressure
our national elites to secure our borders, stop illegal border
crossings, and prohibit the employment of those here illegally.

ICE Fugitive Operations Teams arrest more than 30,000 in FY2007

Officer teams and more efficient data contribute to decline in number of criminal aliens, immigration fugitives

WASHINGTON, D.C
- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced today that
their teams of officers who track down criminal aliens and immigration
fugitives arrested almost twice as many in fiscal year 2007 than in the
previous year. For the first time since records have been kept, the
nation's fugitive alien population is on the decline.

In the last fiscal year, which ended on Sept. 30, ICE Fugitive
Operations Teams arrested 30,408 individuals - up from 15,462 arrests
made in FY 2006. One of the reasons for the increase in arrests is the
deployment of dozens more teams across the country. ICE met its goal of
deploying 75 teams by the end of FY 2007; up from 52 active teams in
FY2006.

The Fugitive Operations Program's rapid growth has spurred its
success. However, better coordination of information from state and
local law enforcement and more efficient data collection and
dissemination have also contributed greatly. As of October 1, 2007,
ICE's fugitive case backlog consisted of less than 595,000 fugitive
aliens, which is approximately 38,000 fewer fugitives than the
population recorded at the same time last year. That number continues
to decrease.

"The growing number of arrests made by the ICE Fugitive Operations
Teams should serve as a deterrent to people attempting to side-step our
nation's laws," said Julie L. Myers, Assistant Secretary for ICE. "We
kept our promise to bolster the number of teams this past year and we
continue to improve our ability to identify and apprehend individuals
who pose a serious threat to our communities or choose to ignore our
immigration laws."

Arrests across the country include:

  • Luis Medina Gonzalez, 34, of Mexico; a criminal
fugitive alien convicted of beating another man to death more than a
decade ago in Mexico. Medina Gonzalez was arrested in Maywood, Calif.,
    and deported the following day.
  • Jose Sanchez-Roches, 47, of Cuba; a criminal
fugitive alien apprehended by the Miami team in May. Sanchez-Roches
has a criminal history including convictions for murder, armed robbery,
burglary, drug possession, and resisting arrest.
  • Jose Reyes-Reyes, 50, of El Salvador; a criminal
fugitive arrested in Miami. Reyes-Reyes has been removed before and in
1988 he plead guilty to murder in Harris County, Texas, where he served
    15 years in prison.
  • Victorino Anaya-Renza, 45, of Mexico; a criminal
fugitive alien convicted of sexual assault and endangering the welfare
of a child. Anaya-Renza was arrested in Philadelphia in April for
defying an immigration judge's order of removal.
  • Pedro Roman Perez, 59, of the Dominican Republic;
a criminal fugitive alien with U.S. convictions for attempted murder,
assault and driving under the influence was arrested in March by the
Newark Fugitive Operations Team. He had previously been ordered removed
    from the country.
  • Rory Amoy Sinclair, 27, of Jamaica; a criminal
fugitive alien arrested in Atlanta was convicted by the Superior Court
of Fulton County (Ga.) for sexual battery of a minor, possession of
marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

In addition to the expanded partnerships with local law enforcement
agencies across the country, the newly created Fugitive Operations
Support Center (FOCC) in Vermont, which aids in gathering and analyzing
information on fugitive cases across the country, has also helped the
Fugitive Operations Teams succeed. This center was opened last year and
has since disseminated more than 150,000 case leads to ICE agents.

ICE established its Fugitive Operations Program in 2003 to eliminate
the nation's backlog of immigration fugitives and ensure that
deportation orders handed down by immigration judges are enforced. The
teams prioritize cases involving immigration violators who pose a
threat to national security and community safety. These include child
sexual exploiters, suspected gang members and those who have

ICE's Fugitive Operations Program is an integral part of the
comprehensive multi-year plan launched by the Department of Homeland
Security to secure America's borders and reduce illegal migration. That
strategy seeks to gain operational control of both the northern and
southern borders, while re-engineering the alien detention and removal
system to ensure that illegal aliens are removed from the country
quickly and efficiently.

Synopsis : Establishes the Corporation for
Travel Promotion as a nonprofit corporation that is not an agency or
establishment of the U.S. government. Makes the Corporation subject to
the provisions of the District of Columbia Nonprofit Corporation Act.
Requires the Corporation, among other things, to provide
useful information to people interested in traveling to the United
States, counter and correct misperceptions regarding U.S. travel
policy, and promote U.S. travel.

Establishes in the Treasury the Travel Promotion Fund.
Requires the transfer of Treasury funds to the Corporation, requiring
nonfederal matching funds.

Authorizes the U.S. government, if a fully automated
electronic system is implemented to determine, in advance of travel,
the eligibility of an alien to travel to the United States, to charge
an applicant a system use fee.

Authorizes the Corporation to impose an annual assessment on
U.S. members of the travel and tourism industry represented on the
Board, provided industry members approve by majority vote in a
referendum.

Establishes in the Department of Commerce the Office of Travel
Promotion, to be headed by the Under Secretary of Commerce for Travel
Promotion.

Amends the International Travel Act of 1961 to require that
the Office of Travel and Tourism Industries expand its research and
development activities to promote international travel to the United
States.

Problems with the bill :
It creates yet another quasi-governmental body which does not
answer directly to the American people. Rather, it is steered by
Congress but the wording of the bill makes it clear it is not a
governmental agency. Got that? There is nothing here the travel
industry could not do by itself, but Congress is going to bring forth
this bureaucracy out of nothingness and then totally disavow it.
The members of this QGB (Quasi-governmental body) are to be
appointed by the Secretary of Commerce. Can you say “political rewards”?
On top of that, the entire travel and tourism industry as
represented by State organizations get a total of three seats on the
board. That’s it. One more board member must be - get this - a
“Federal” employee. And one shall represent “higher ed”. Political
paybacks anyone?

The board gets to set its own pay, and on top of the pay
(which we are certain will not be below the poverty level) they will
get a per diem AND travel expenses for every day when away from “his or
her usual place of residence”. We are certain addresses will be
changing very quickly away from Washington D.C. should a resident from
D.C. (or the surrounding area) be selected for the board.
AND THEN THERE IS THIS -
SEC. 5 ELECTRONIC TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION SYSTEM
(a) IN GENERAL- Section 217(h) of the Immigration and
Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1187(h)) is amended by adding at the end
thereof the following:
(3) ELECTRONIC TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION SYSTEM-
(A) SYSTEM- The Secretary of Homeland Security, in consultation with the Secretary of State, is authorized to develop

and implement a fully automated electronic traveler authorization
system to collect such basic biographical information

as the Secretary of Homeland Security determines to be necessary to determine, in advance of travel, the eligibility

of an alien to travel to the United States under the visa waiver program.
(B) FEES- The Secretary of Homeland Security may charge a to an applicant fee for the use of the system, which shall be–
(i) set at a level that will ensure recovery of the full costs of providing and administering the system;
(ii) available to pay the costs incurred to administer the system; and
(iii) include an amount, initially not more than $10, for transfer to the Travel Promotion Fund established by

section 4 of the Travel Promotion Act of 2007 necessary to ensure that the Corporation for Travel Promotion

established by section 2 of that Act is fully funded.
(C) VALIDITY-
(i) PERIOD- The Secretary of Homeland Security, in consultation with the Secretary of State shall prescribe

regulations that provide for a period, not to exceed 3 years, during which a determination of eligibility to travel

under the program will be valid. Notwithstanding any other provision under this section, the Secretary of Homeland

Security may revoke any such determination at any time and for any reason.
(ii) LIMITATION- A determination that an alien is eligible to travel to the United States under the visa waiver

program is not a determination that the alien is admissible to the United States.
(iii) JUDICIAL REVIEW- Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no court shall have jurisdiction to review an

eligibility determination under the system.
(D) REPORT- Not later than 60 days before publishing notice regarding the implementation of the system in the Federal

Register, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall submit a report regarding the implementation of the system to the

Congress.’.
(b) Authorization of Appropriations- There are authorized to
be appropriated such sums as may be necessary to carry out the
amendment made by subsection (a).
Do you see any wording in there where this will apply ONLY and
EXCLUSIVELY to non-US citizens wishing to enter the United States of
America? National ID cards for travel anyone?
AND JUST TO REMOVE ALL DOUBTS :
SEC. 203. RESEARCH PROGRAM.
(a) IN GENERAL-

The Office of Travel and Tourism Industries shall expand and continue
its research and development activities in connection with the
promotion of international travel to the United States, including–
(1) expanding access to the official Mexican travel surveys data to provide the States with traveler characteristics and

visitation estimates for targeted marketing programs;
Given the recent stumbles of for it-against it-for it-against
it Hillary Clinton in the area of illegal immigration, do you now have
to wonder why all the Northeast Liberals are on board EXCEPT her? Isn’t
NY one of the busiest “tourist” destinations for America? Do they have
more business than they can handle that they have to turn it away? Why
would Hillary NOT co-sponsor this bill unless it was in her best
interests politically to do so?

Why exactly are we specifically targeting MORE people from Mexico to come here?
Is this bill nothing but a back-door way to bring about amnesty by fiat?
If you think not, then ask yourselves - why doesn’t the travel business create their own travel promotion board?

We believe there are many dangerous things in this bill which
merit “eternal vigilance” from US citizens before they come to pass. We
also believe that Hillary not being a part of it tells everyone this
bill should be killed as quickly as possible

Cheap Tomatoes

Cross posted from Miss Beth's Victory Dance

Another gem from Bonnie:

This is why the taxpayers are fed up with the President and the congress!

This English teacher (ESL) has phrased it very well.

Tomatoes and Cheap Labor

CHEAP TOMATOES?
This should make everyone think...be you Democrat, Republican or Independent.

From a California school teacher

As you listen to the news about the student protests over
illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:

I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at
a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school,
meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens ,
Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.
Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight.
About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK AGAIN)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America . (MORE OF OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK).

I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less than 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them 'Putas' whores and throwing things, that the teachers were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, day care, etc., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements ?

To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.

We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster, because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about “political correctness” that we don't have the will to do anything about it.

CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?

Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage.

Consumers don't want expensive produce.

Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs.

But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase “cheap labor” is a myth, a farce and a lie.
There is no such thing as “cheap labor.”

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for
$5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax yet at the end of the year, IF he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an “earned income credit” of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.

He qualifies for food stamps.

He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.

His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school!

He requires bilingual teachers and books.

He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.

If they are or become aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense .

He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance or homeowners insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.

He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.

Working class Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills AND his.

The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.

Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people!

THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY. AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS WE SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!

Chavez vows to turn a defeat into victory

I knew there was going to be more to this from Chavez...

From The Washington Times:
Venezuela — President Hugo Chavez vowed yesterday to keep fighting for a package of radical constitutional amendments despite a stunning referendum defeat that sent his opponents into the streets in celebration.

"I don't withdraw a single comma from this proposal," Mr. Chavez said of his amendments, which would curtail private-property rights and remove limits on the number of terms he could serve as president.

"I keep making this proposal to the Venezuelan people. This proposal is alive, not dead. It couldn't be done for now, but I maintain it," Mr. Chavez told officials, military officers and reporters who gathered at the presidential Miraflores Palace as the outcome of the voting became clear. [snip...]

Gen. Raul Baduel, a former defense minister who resigned from Mr. Chavez's government to lead a campaign against the constitutional changes, warned that the president could still seek to alter the country's legal system by "other means."

Gen. Baduel said Mr. Chavez could use "enabling" clauses in the current constitution to legislate by decree. He suggested that a new constitutional assembly should be elected to put checks on the presidency, which Mr. Chavez has progressively strengthened since he came to office in 1999.[snip...]

Some election monitors, without offering any proof, said Mr. Chavez lost by a much wider margin, of almost 10 percentage points.

"It's obvious that they tried something, but couldn't do it because the difference between the 'no' and 'yes' vote was too great." said Rodolfo Monsalvo, a Caracas taxi driver cruising through opposition street parties, where printed copies of Mr. Chavez's proposed amendments were burned.

"We've been marching in protest for nine years and finally we've won" said Corina Perez, a 25-year-old schoolteacher. "Every time they managed to cheat us, but couldn't do it this time."

NIE Report on Iran

I ran is still a threat...

From NYT:
Israel today took a darker view of Iran’s nuclear ambitions than the assessment released by United States intelligence agencies yesterday, saying it was convinced that Iran was pursuing nuclear weapons.

It said Iran had probably resumed the nuclear weapons program the American report said was stopped in the fall of 2003. “It is apparently true that in 2003 Iran stopped pursuing its military nuclear program for a certain period of time,” Defense Minister Ehud Barak told Israeli Army Radio. “But in our estimation, since then it is apparently continuing with its program to produce a nuclear weapon.” [snip...]

The International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna said the new assessment should now help ease the international confrontation with Iran and prompt it to cooperate fully with the United Nations nuclear watchdog. The agency had been criticized in the past by the Bush administration for not pressing Iran hard enough on its nuclear intentions.

“This new assessment by the U.S. should help to defuse the current crisis,” the atomic energy agency’s director general, Mohamed ElBaradei, said in a statement.

“At the same time, it should prompt Iran to work actively with the I.A.E.A. to clarify specific aspects of its past and present nuclear program as outlined in the work plan and through the implementation of the additional protocol.”

But the United States, Britain and France urged the international community to maintain pressure on Iran to stop its nuclear enrichment activities despite the new assessment.

“We think the report’s conclusions justify the actions already taken by the international community to both show the extent of and try to restrict Iran’s nuclear program and to increase pressure on the regime to stop its enrichment and reprocessing activities,” a spokesman for British Prime Minister Gordon Brown was quoted by Reuters as saying.

“It confirms we were right to be worried about Iran seeking to develop nuclear weapons and shows that the sanctions program and international pressure were having an effect,” he said.

France expressed a similar opinion. “It appears that Iran is not respecting its international obligations,” a French Foreign Ministry spokeswoman was quoted by Reuters as saying.

“We must keep up the pressure on Iran,” the spokeswoman said, adding that France will continue “to work on the introduction of restrictive measures in the framework of the United Nations.”

At a meeting with Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, today in Moscow, President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia said Iran should ensure its nuclear activities were “open and transparent,” Bloomberg reported. Mr. Putin’s spokesman said Russia was offering to supply Iran fuel for the Russian-built nuclear power plant at Bushehr, in southern Iran, with the intention of persuading Iran to suspend uranium enrichment, Bloomberg reported.

“The sooner we ship it, the less they will have a need for their own program,” the spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, was quoted as saying.

From IC:
"If anything the new national estimates validate the administration's strategy to bring diplomatic and economic pressure on the Iranian government's nuclear policy," Gates said during a visit to Afghanistan.

A US National Intelligence Estimate released on Monday said that Iran halted its nuclear weapons drive in 2003.
From Voice of America:
Iran's president is calling for the creation of an international Islamic court to try war criminals and other human rights violators. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad raised the idea Tuesday during a speech to judiciary chiefs from Islamic countries at a conference in Tehran. He did not give any details about who might be tried under an international Islamic court or how it would operate. The international community already has two courts -- one to deal with criminals and another that handles disputes between states. Both are based in The Hague. In his speech, Mr. Ahmadinejad said that some international organizations such as the U.N. Security Council have not been founded on the basis of justice.
From Financial Times:
The United Arab Emirates has impounded the cargo of a vessel bound for Iran after discovering that “hazardous materials” aboard contravened UN sanctions placed on the Islamic republic to curtail its nuclear development programme.

In a further ratcheting up of the UAE’s determination to curb misuse of its ports, an official there confirmed that the cargo, detained for testing last month, contained materials banned by UN Security Council resolutions 1737 and 1747, while the purchaser of the materials had also been barred by the same resolutions.
From Islamic Republic News Agency:
Iran-Sweden-Ahmadinejad
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Tuesday warned certain countries that if they do not change their behaviors, the Iranian nation will never hesitate to do so.

According to Presidential Office, President Ahmadinejad made the remark in a meeting with the new Swedish ambassador to Tehran Nagnus Vernstedt.

Certain countries still continue to exert pressure on Iran despite recent report by IAEA, he underlined.[snip...]

The US and its allies should admit Iran's peaceful nuclear rights, he said, adding that there is no alternative to this end.

Iran is independent and never needs these powers or countries, he underlined.
OK, let's be clear, even IF Iran did not restart its nuclear bomb program, it can at anytime. as long as they continue to work on uranium enrichment they are working on the bomb. Why? Because we know they continue to work on long range missiles and when they have the nuclear material on hand they just have tyhe actual bomb to construct and stick it on a missile. that will take no time at all so they don't need the actual bomb making program running yet.

We have got to keep up the pressure on Iran and not ease up now. Either diplomacy stops Iran or there will be no other choice but the use of force and no one should want that to happen.

Can the Save Act Save Our Nation from Illegal Immigration?

ADDED by Brian Bonner: For anyone wishing to get a better understanding of the SAVE act, go here and read the American Policy Center's SAVE Act alert against it and Numbers USA's response.

Cross posted from The Virtous Republic:

For those who have been put off by "comprehensive" immigration
legislation or the Dream Act, which were amnesty by another name, the Save Act might be something you can support.

Currently, the Save Act is going before the Senate for debate and "we" need to mobilize our forces to support this bill.

The Save Act proposes to do a number of things that those opposed to illegal immigration have been suggesting for years.

• it increases the size of the border patrol

• it provides monies for fencing and electronic monitoring of the border

• it creates a grant program to help local law enforcement along the border to fight illegal immigration

• it requires that social security numbers actually belong to employees

• provides monies for detention facilities for illegal immigrants

• provides funding for more courts to handle prosecution of illegal aliens

While
no legislation is perfect, this is the first attempt by our elites in
Washington to address our illegal immigration problem with something
other than amnesty.

Please contact your Senator and urge them to support this bill.

Venezuelans Deny Chávez Additional Authority

Haha! Good for the Venzuelans!

From WaPo:
Hours after the final ballots were cast, the National Electoral Council announced at 1:15 a.m. local time Monday that voters, by a margin of 51 to 49 percent, had rejected 69 reforms to the 1999 constitution. The modifications would have permitted the president to stand for reelection indefinitely, appoint governors to provinces he would create and control Venezuela's sizable foreign reserves.[snip...]

Particularly damaging to the government was the defection of several longtime allies, including the former defense minister, Raúl Baduel, and the head of an influential, pro-Chávez party, Ismael García. Pollsters said that gave the "No" vote undeniable momentum late last month.

"People who have been with Chávez do not support the reform," said Elixio Fusil, who lives in a pro-Chávez district in western Caracas and voted against the reforms. "He wants a blank check, and that's impossible. We're not stupid like he thinks. It's that simple. There are conscious, thinking people here, too."

The referendum capped a whirlwind year for Chávez, who won a second six-year term with 63 percent of the vote last December and promptly announced he would radicalize what he calls his Bolivarian revolution. He nationalized electric and telephone utilities, wrested the huge oil sector from ExxonMobil and other corporations, cancelled the concession for RCTV, a stridently anti-government station, and oversaw an expanding state presence in the economy.
I wonder what Chavez will do now?

Sudan President Pardons British Teacher

From WaPo:
What Britain and Gibbons' supporters said was a misunderstanding over the teddy bear escalated into a diplomatic flap between London and Khartoum _ and the show of outrage in Sudan that puzzled many in the West.

Hard-line Muslim clerics here denounced Gibbons, saying she intentionally aimed to insult Islam. A day after her Thursday trial, several thousand Sudanese massed in central Khartoum to demand that Gibbons be executed.
Yeah, jail time and lashes were not good enough for the religion of pieces
Gillian Gibbons, jailed for more than a week, was freed after two Muslim members of Britain's House of Lords met with al-Bashir and the teacher sent the president a statement saying she didn't mean to offend anyone with her class project.

"I have a great respect for the Islamic religion and would not knowingly offend anyone," Gibbons said in the statement, which was released by al-Bashir's office and read to journalists by British Baroness Sayeeda Warsi.

"I am looking forward to seeing my family and friends, but I am very sorry that I will be unable to return to Sudan," Gibbons wrote.

Al-Bashir insisted Gibbons had a fair trial, in which she was convicted of insulting Islam's Prophet Muhammad, but the president agreed to pardon her during the meeting with the British delegation, said Ghazi Saladdin, a senior presidential adviser.

The 54-year-old Gibbons left the country Monday evening, British Embassy spokesman Omar Daair told The Associated Press. She was believed to be on an Emirates flight to Dubai that took off moments before Daair spoke and was expected in London on Tuesday morning.
She really lucked out on this one. I do not understand why anyone would want to go to these muslim countries with their radical sharia law.

Congress has a Boat load of Work to Do!

War funding
Of course the democrats think not sending a clean funding bill is a winning sstrategy for them, I don't think so. I think the American people want the military completely funded, even if they want out of Iraq.

Alternative Minimum Tax
The argument isn't whether to fix the AMT, but how. with the Democrats wanting to raise taxes on "The Wealthy".

Government spending bills
They have not passed ELEVEN of the TWELVE bills governing federal spending for the fiscal year that began Oct. 1st! They have actually set a new record!

Surveillance
Both parties want to approve permanent revisions to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), a 1978 law governing interceptions of communications involving foreign terror suspects. The problem is how much court review should be required when foreign targets call or e-mail Americans. Another problem is whether companies that help the government eavesdrop on such calls should be given immunity from lawsuits.

AT&T, Verizon and Qwest face about 40 such lawsuits with potential damages in the billions of dollars,

Children's health insurance
President Bush this year vetoed a $35 billion over reaching SCHIP bill. The President said the bill was too costly and the program should cover the poorest children before being expanded to middle-class families.

Republicans are actually working for an override! It is not the federal government's job to provide healthcare for anyone, but some people keep expanding the power of the federal government.

All this work, especially the spending bills left undone while the democrats try and tell us how successful this congress has been. They actually think we are that stupid...

Ex-border agents' case back in court

Well, isn't this some promising news...

From The Houston Chronicle:
Attorneys for the former agents are pushing for a new trial, arguing the agents acted in self-defense, according to briefs filed with the appeals court. They also contend that Ramos and Compean were improperly charged with discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, which carries a mandatory sentence of 10 years. Bob Baskett, Compean's attorney, said that statute should not be applied to law enforcement officers acting in the line of duty.

According to the defense arguments, the federal judge in El Paso erred by allowing Aldrete to invoke the Fifth Amendment on the witness stand, Baskett said, and by not allowing them to question him more extensively about evidence of additional smuggling attempts.

"It basically came down to (Aldrete's) word against theirs, and if he's shown to be a lying dope dealer, that might have influenced the way the jury saw the evidence," Baskett said.

Loya, Ramos' father-in-law, said the agents were "Nifonged," a reference to Mike Nifong, the former Durham County (N.C.) District Attorney who resigned because of misconduct in the 2006 Duke University lacrosse case. Loya said Sutton's office should not have offered Aldrete immunity in exchange for his testimony.

"How could the U.S. Attorney ... take the word of an admitted illegal alien criminal drug smuggler over two agents with 15 years of experience who have been involved in over 100 drug busts and never hurt anybody?" he said. "It doesn't make sense."

Shana Jones, a spokeswoman for Sutton, said prosecutors were refraining from comment on the case because of the upcoming appeal. David Botsford, Ramos' attorney, declined to comment on specifics of the appeal, instead referring to court documents.

In testimony before Congress earlier this year, Sutton defended his decision to prosecute: "An honest reading of the facts of this case shows that Compean and Ramos deliberately shot at an unarmed man in the back without justification, destroyed evidence to cover it up and lied about it. A jury heard the facts and voted to convict." [snip...]

Supporters of the former agents said they were encouraged by fresh developments in the case, including the recent arrest of Aldrete. He was indicted in October and arrested Nov. 15 on marijuana smuggling charges.

The charges stem from smuggling attempts in 2005 — before Aldrete testified as a key witness at the agents' trial.

Rep. Ted Poe, R-Humble, said Aldrete's indictment should help Ramos and Compean's appeal. It shows "the U.S. attorney knew all along that Aldrete was a drug dealer and not some poor mule trying to get money for his sick mother in Mexico, which is what they presented to the jury in the trial," he said. "He was a bigger player than that and the jury should have known about that. And the reason they should have known about that was because the entire case was based upon Aldrete's testimony."

In a statement released after Aldrete's arrest, Sutton said new evidence led to Aldrete's indictment and that his office had been working closely with the Drug Enforcement Administration to secure charges.

"Just as Aldrete's alleged illegal conduct did not excuse the crimes committed by Compean and Ramos, likewise, their crimes will not excuse his," Sutton said in the statement. "Compean and Ramos had their day in court and received justice in accordance with well-established laws." [snip..]

The Ramos and Compean case has struck a nerve politically and has been championed by mainly Republican members of Congress and presidential candidates. The White House has been under pressure to issue pardons for the two former agents, amid reports that grassroots groups had gathered hundreds of thousands of signatures of support.

In July, the House approved an unusual amendment by Poe designed to free the duo by barring the Bureau of Prisons from using federal funds to incarcerate them. The move was unprecedented in the House but ultimately symbolic because it would require approval of the Senate and President Bush.

"Opposition to immigration is probably higher in this country now than it has been at any time since the 1920s," said Rogers Smith, a political science professor at the University of Pennsylvania who studies immigration and related issues. "So that's a political climate in which appearing to work against tough border enforcement will be unpopular, and political leaders will therefore have an incentive to criticize it."

Loya said the case is not about illegal immigration. "It's about a travesty of justice," he said. "I pray that now we would at least get a retrial.

"I will fight this forever," Loya said.
I hope and pray that they win this appeal. This case and many others make me sick. Instead of getting tough on illegal aliens, our justice dept has been putting law enforcement officers behind bars! EL Presidente Bush does not want our borders locked down and our immigration laws enforced. He has sent a clear message to border patrol officers to stand down.

  • Secure the border by any means necessary. This includes the Military.

  • Stiff penalties for employers, which are actually enforced.

  • No taxpayer funded programs for illegals or their families. (including school for children of illegals and non-emergency medical care for any illegal)

  • No "Anchor Babies" (no automatic citizenship for children of illegals born in the US)

  • No path to Citizenship in any name or form for those here illegally.

  • No Guest worker program until the above measures are put in place and the need can be PROVEN

  • English only education and the official language of the USA

Illegal Aliens As A Percentage of the Population

Cross posted from The Virtuous Republic:

The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) has
produced a detailed study on the massive immigration that
has occurred over the last 10 years into the United States. Buried in
this study, which can be found here, is some shocking information regarding the illegal alien population by state.

The following chart from the CIS, provides a look at the what 40 years of open borders has done to our nation.

cis.png

In
California for example, 8% of the state's population is made of of
illegal aliens, which total 2.8 million people. This illegal population
in California also makes up 12% of the workforce. As you can see, CIS
lists the top states with large illegal populations.

These numbers are simply staggering. And Americans should start asking questions, like:

• how can a sovereign nation have 11 million unknown persons living within its borders?

• who are these people? Do we know their criminal records? Are they healthy?

• do they pay taxes?

• what government resources do they use?

• what are their political loyalties?

• what are their education levels?

• do they take jobs away from native Americans?

• do they depress wages?

Allowing
11 million people into our country extralegally is not good policy, it
isn't even a policy. It is the abrogation of our sovereignty.

Hillary Booed in Iowa

Cross posted from InMuscatine:

FOXNews.com - Hillary Clinton Draws Boos at Iowa Campaign Event, 1 Day After Hostage Situation

Whatever public sympathy Hillary Clinton had built up during the tense hostage situation at her New Hampshire campaign office appeared to dissipate Saturday, as she was met with a round of boos during an address over the phone to an Iowa political event.

At the Heartland Presidential Candidates Forum in Des Moines, community activists lustily booed the Democratic frontrunner after she declined to commit to passing comprehensive immigration reform in her first 100 days in office.

Of course, when Democrats say “comprehensive immigration reform” we hear “amnesty”.

In the early forum, Clinton said reform would be a “high priority” for her, but that didn’t satisfy a crowd looking for legislation that would move illegal immigrants swiftly on a path to legalization.

The obvious problem with everything being a priority is that nothing turns out to be a priority.

We repeat our call for a common-sense immigration reform package :

Point 1 : All immigration laws of the USA are changed to mimic those of Mexico. Namely, all citizens will be empowered with the ability to arrest all suspected illegal immigrants to the USA. Being an illegal alien in Mexico is a felony, not a misdemeanor, and so should it be in the USA. Also, to permanently end “catch and release” immigration policies all Federal, State, and Local law enforcement authorities will be required by law to arrest, detain, and export all illegal immigrants discovered to be living in the USA, without exception.

Point 2 : All monies being sent outside the USA by those not citizens of the USA will be subject to a 75% tax, with all monies collected to be used to fund the immigration enforcement efforts, with a portion reserved to the States in the form of block grants to assist with immigration enforcement efforts at the state and local level. Any US citizen found guilty of aiding a non-citizen to break the law will be subject to total confiscation of all material wealth and subject to a term in prison at hard labor of not less than 10 years.

Point 3 : A permanent detachment of the US military will be stationed on the Northern and Southern US borders. Any hostile actions directed at our border guard will be considered an act of war and will trigger a response of overwhelming force that will not be authorized to cease until all aggressors are dead.

Point 4 : Every person detained for suspicion of being an illegal alien will be required to submit to comprehensive medical testing, including the mandatory submission of a DNA sample. If found to have a communicable disease, the person will be deported immediately, subject to permanent ban of re-entry to the USA. If found guilty of violating the ban, the punishment will be a period of not less than ten years of hard labor followed by deportation.

Point 5 : Upon finding of guilt of being an illegal alien, the person shall forfeit all material wealth collected from economic activity in the US to the US government. This in turn shall be used to fund immigration enforcement, with a portion allocated to the States in the form of block grants to fund immigration efforts at the state and local levels. Banks found to be opening accounts for illegal aliens shall be fined no less than $100,000 per account. US citizens found guilty of aiding and abetting illegal aliens to circumvent the law shall be subject to a fine of not less than $10,000 and a period of imprisonment at hard labor not to be less than two years. Repeat offenders shall serve a term of not less than ten years at hard labor and be subject to total forfeiture of material wealth.

Point 6 : Any US citizen found guilty of providing material aid or support expressly for the purpose of smuggling illegal aliens into the US shall have all material wealth confiscated. The proceeds of the forfeited wealth shall be dedicated to immigration enforcement efforts at the Federal, State, and Local levels. Also, those found guilty of smuggling illegal aliens into the USA shall be subject to life in prison at hard labor without possibility of parole.

Point 7 : All businesses with employees shall be rendered immune from liability in matters of invasion of privacy or civil rights when checking the status of US citizenship of all workers. Any member of management of said business found willfully employing an illegal alien will be subject to a fine of not less than $10,000 and a term in prison of not less than two years at hard labor. Repeat offenders shall serve a term of not less than ten years at hard labor and be subject to total forfeiture of material wealth.

We believe these steps will permanently end all illegal immigration into the USA, no matter the nationality of the illegal alien. We are alleged to have equal protection under the law, so the law should apply equally no matter the country of origin of the illegal alien.

We again point out that only when the negative outcome radically outweighs the possible positive benefits of a given behavior will such behavior be prevented. If America is serious about ending illegal immigration, then America will enact laws such as the above to extinguish all possible “profit” in circumventing the illegal immigration laws.

Immigrants in the United States, 2007

From The Center for Immigration Studies:
This Backgrounder provides a detailed picture of the number and socio-economic status of the nation’s immigrant or foreign-born population, both legal and illegal. The data was collected by the Census Bureau in March 2007.

Among the report’s findings:

Immigrants account for one in eight U.S. residents, the highest level in 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13.

Overall, nearly one in three immigrants is an illegal alien. Half of Mexican and Central American immigrants and one-third of South American immigrants are illegal.

The proportion of immigrant-headed households using at least one major welfare program is 33 percent, compared to 19 percent for native households.

The poverty rate for immigrants and their U.S.-born children (under 18) is 17 percent, nearly 50 percent higher than the rate for natives and their children.

Immigrants make significant progress over time. But even those who have been here for 20 years are more likely to be in poverty, lack insurance, or use welfare than are natives.

The primary reason for the high rates of immigrant poverty, lack of health insurance, and welfare use is their low education levels, not their legal status or an unwillingness to work.
Their legal status, this is why I call the people that are pro illegal alien, slave traders. Illegal aliens are the slaves of our time and people that say they do the jobs Americans do not want to do are slavers.
There is a worker present in 78 percent of immigrant households using at least one welfare program.
78% of immigrant households WITH WORKERS use welfare. But people are always telling me that illegal aliens cannot get welfare, WRONG. The average illegal alien family costs the American tax payer 22,000.00/yr over and above what they pay in taxes.
Immigration accounts for virtually all of the national increase in public school enrollment over the last two decades. In 2007, there were 10.8 million school-age children from immigrant families in the United States.
That is right, they are also over crowding our public schools. illegal aliens are stealing our children's future by over crowding schools in many areas increasing the teacher to student ratio, using up resources and taking up seats. We have got to seaal the border and make life for illegal aliens unattractive.

Here is my “Comprehensive” Immigration Reform:

  • Secure the border by any means necessary. This includes the Military.

  • Stiff penalties for employers, which are actually enforced.

  • No taxpayer funded programs for illegals or their families. (including school for children of illegals and non-emergency medical care for any illegal)

  • No "Anchor Babies" (no automatic citizenship for children of illegals born in the US)

  • No path to Citizenship in any name or form for those here illegally.

  • No Guest worker program until the above measures are put in place and the need can be PROVEN

  • English only education and the official language of the USA

Why we should speak English

Cross posted from Right Truth

A reader of Right Truth left the following as a comment. I think it deserves to be read by all:

I am a 56 year old white male, retired from the Lutheran ministry. I served nine years in the Navy. I have law enforcement experience. I have been looking for a job as a school teacher or in the social work field. I have a masters degree, but no teaching certificate. With my undergraduate degree grade point average, I could get my certification. Since I am not bi-lingual, I cannot.

Elementary school teachers in the Valley area of Texas must be bi-lingual. The schools are full of children from Mexican national households. I have interviewed for CPS positions, but have been denied employment because I am not bi-lingual. Families in this area, prone to CPS investigation, do not speak English. I cannot interview prospective offenders, because I do not speak Spanish.

As a citizen of our country and this state, I am unemployable in fields where I would be in other ones. I have joked with family that I live in North Mexico. This is not a joking matter. --Dwayne A. Johnson

I welcome your thoughts and comments for Mr. Johnson.

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit Friday that challenged a suburban Washington county's recent effort to clamp down on illegal immigrants, one of the toughest such crackdowns in the country.

One of resolution requires police to check the immigration status of people they detain if

they have reason to suspect the person is an illegal immigrant. A second seeks to deny

County Immigration Crackdown Upheld by Court

Cross posted by InMuscatine

The Associated Press: Immigration Crackdown Challenge Tossed

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit Friday that challenged a suburban Washington county’s recent effort to clamp down on illegal immigrants, one of the toughest such crackdowns in the country.

U.S. District Judge James Cacheris said the plaintiffs lacked legal standing to challenge measures passed earlier this year by the Prince William County Board of Supervisors.

One of resolution requires police to check the immigration status of people they detain if they have reason to suspect the person is an illegal immigrant. A second seeks to deny numerous county services to illegal immigrants, including business licenses, drug counseling, housing assistance and some services for the elderly.

County attorneys successfully argued that the plaintiffs could not show they had suffered from the measures, which have not yet been fully implemented.

Board of Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart, a leading supporter of the crackdown, said he believes the county’s plan may be replicated across the country now that it has withstood a legal challenge.

“Some of the best litigators in the country came up with the best arguments they could come up with … and at the end of the day it was tossed out by a judge,” Stewart said.

We can only hope this will put pressure on State and Federal officials to start taking the issue seriously.

Tyson Foods now importing Somali refugees for cheap labor

Cross posted from Bear Creek Ledger:

Bear in mind Tyson takes no responsibility for these refugees except for the job. The town is left to deal with all the other extended family members and social problems. I’ve spoken before of the problems relating to the Somali refugees brought into Minnesota. What angers me is Tyson’s disgusting behavior. Because of their importation of illegal aliens I’ve long ago stopped buying any Tyson products.

From American Congress for Truth:

So, Tyson opted to do something legal. It brought in approximately 400 ‘legal’ Somali Muslim ‘humanitarian refugees’ to top up its 2000 employee work force in Emporia. It went further and allotted prayer room space and even outfitted bathrooms with wudus, foot washing baths, so that these tough foot soldiers of Islam could prayer to mecca, five times a day. It also brought in ’sensitivity training’ specialists into the community from groups like federally funded Spring Institute of Denver, Colorado engaged in inter-cultural and immigrant absorption consulting on behalf of the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitative Services (KDSRS) - a conduit for grants from Office of Refugee Resettlement of the US Department of Health and Human Services.

snip……ESU senior Heavner and the majority of Emporians are perceptive enough to realize what the damage could be to the community’s cultural base, health and welfare systems from the influx of Somali Muslims. But that is of little concern to food processing giant Tyson Foods, the Federal office of Refugee Resettlement and its State of Kansas DSRS and NGO ‘humanitarian refugee’ advocates using our taxpayer dollars to subsidize this misadventure and possible disaster in our nation’s heartland.

From a comment with this story follows a an even richer blog with detailed information on more pitfalls involved with this resettlement.

Refugee Resettlement Watch
:
From Emporia,KS lets off steam we find out about the nomadic culture of Somalis:

So, let me get this straight. The long-time citizens of Emporia are expected to embrace the Somali community whose members are always on the move and apparently have no plans to put down roots anyway. Kimsey inadvertantly demonstrates the assimilation problem. If Somalis are to live in America they must begin to assimililate to American ways and one of the first things they can learn is that we are not nomads. This is where this multicultural ‘clap trap’ has gotten us—we tip-toe around this important issue, presumably fearing the scarlet ”R” word will be emblazoned on our chests.

TB and nomads,alcohol and Muslims

So those 50 percent who have latent TB — they won’t necessarily be around to receive their nine months or year of treatment. Someone said the Somalis understand the need for treatment. Presumably when they move they go to another community of Somalis, many of whom are being treated. So it is quite possible that the public health system picks them up when they move, and they’re not spreading TB around the country. But could we have some facts on this, please?

Second, a couple of the Emporia residents described episodes of drunkenness among the Somalis.

Will answers be forthcoming in Emporia, KS tomorrow?

This last is wishful thinking. Sure some of the next generation will go on to bigger things and we hope they do, but I think one need only look at Paris burning tonight to see the folly in this thinking. Those African Muslim youths rampaging at this moment are the children of immigrants France brought in for the cheap labor. They are the next generation! Isn’t this kind of a crap shoot, what makes us think that this would never happen in America?

Refugee working at Tyson Foods died of TB

In light of the previous post, Somalis arrive in Emporia with tuberculosis, an article from last January in the Emporia Gazette is relevant. In Tyson worker had TB…..

snip…..If a refugee died of TB in January, he must have come into this country with active TB. This raises the question: How good is the screening procedure used for refugees? We have been assured time and again that refugees receive at least two health screenings, overseas and once they arrive here. How did an active case of TB slip through, and how many more are there?

Somalis arrive in Emporia with tuberculosis

About 160 of the Somalis in Emporia have been diagnosed with latent TB. Latent TB is not contagious, but if it is not treated, 10 to 15 percent of the cases become active. So the health officials acted promptly to screen the new arrivals and to begin treating those with the disease. Good for them, but think of the resources needed to deal with this. Nurse Lori Torres now works full time just on TB cases.

Why are most of the Somalis young men? Where are the women and children?

And does any American refugee official think that bringing in young single Muslim men might be a problem? It’s not as if Somali men have been shy about trying to impose their religious laws on Americans. Remember the Minneapolis taxi drivers who refused to pick up passengers carrying alcohol in their luggage? They were Somalis. (More on the taxi drivers controversy here and here.) And the fun has only just begun for Emporia:

The total Somali population in Emporia is thought to be between 750 and 1,000, and the expectation is that the number will continue to grow as word of jobs spreads to Somali enclaves in Utah, Minnesota, Maine and Ohio.

Well, at least Tyson Foods will get its cheap labor, whatever the cost to Emporians. And if you think Tennessee is left out of this equation of African refugees, think again.

Burundian Hutus settling in Chattanooga, TN

The resettlement agency mentioned here, Bridge Refugee Services is a subcontractor of Church World Service and is the same agency that joined the ACLU and CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) in a lawsuit against the Federal govt. over the Patriot Act.

Church World Service administers an agency in Africa with funding from the US State Dept.; it’s called the Joint Voluntary Agency and its job is to find refugees to bring to America.

Why are US agencies or US agencies funded by Federal tax dollars looking for refugees to bring to the US? Is this what our immigration policy is supposed to be about? I thought immigration was meant to be industrious immigrants who are capable of taking care of themselves through skills and knowledge. Who have a desire to make for themselves in a new country where the immigrant embraces their new home with loyalty and commitment….meaning assimilation.
